Just a bit of a Safety Share. Beware of hidden obstacles, and if you find something please remove or mark the location. The piece of timber shown below was semi submerged in the shallows of Budgewoi Lake. Luckily I wasn't going fast, had just started planning and hooked in as my fin hit something that sounded like concrete, resulting an a slow-mo type, highly loaded catapult.
I survived the catapult unharmed and immediately went about finding the hidden object . It was a piece old hardwood 150*90*1100.
Point of impact by the MUF Delta 18 can be seen right in the middle on the corner between the adjustable outhaul cleats.
The intention was to put the timber on top of the board and sail to shore for safe disposal, but as I grabbed the rig I realised my near new Chinook Carbon Boom had sustained some damage. Broken at harness lines and the tail piece in 2 places.
. Unrigged and tied everything onto board ready for the paddle back to Buff Point, the wind helped and was only bout 15 min.
I was lucky, it cost me a boom but no other damage or harm. If you find something that may be a danger to any water user , please remove it if possible.
Happy Sailing![]()

Commiserations on the boom damage. I hope Karma arising from your good deed pays you back many times over in due course...
