Dear Herb
I heard the bad news yesterday and was very saddened that your lovely Lyn has left us forever. What a lovely couple you were, such an item, so much liked by all of us.
I only met you 2 here in Caloundra 3 weeks ago and you guys were as usual so happy and content. This is a great loss for the windsurfing community in Queensland and further away. You represented what windsurfing is all about. Just enjoy sailing and nature and all your sailing mates. You have so many friends and we all feel for you Herb! We are thinking about you in these difficult times.
Our deepest condolences. Dieter and Gina

So sorry to hear of your tragic loss Herb. As others have said you and Lyn were an inspiration to us younger types. Even though we never met I feel that I knew you both through the wonderful GTC community.

Dear Herb, I'm very sorry to hear what's happened to yourself and Lyn, and I really feel for you.

I don't know what I can say to help ease the loss, that others haven't already said or will be saying to you soon.

But it sounds to me like you already appreciate something about all of this that can help:

You're absolutely right about that.

From the sound of it Lyn was a good 'un, and with all the waterskiing and windsurfing, a spunky one at that. To every guy who sails, a woman with traits like that makes her an instant "10". So she would have had her pick of the litter.

And out of every other guy out there, she picked you to spend her life with.

You have plenty to be proud of.

That you can appreciate that right now and are grateful for it I think shows that firstly, you're on the right track to getting through all of this, and that secondly, she was right to pick you.

The other thing is that, in addition to your own family, you also have something of an extended family of speedsailors here who care about you and will be doing what they can to look out for you, and to look after you.

No bad thing, and from the sound of it, something that hasn't come to you unearned.

Hooray for Lyn, a good 'un who lived a good life, and had the good sense to latch onto Herb.

We have never met Herb, I feel for you at this very sad time and it has reminded me that we have been really lucky guys to have had such wonderful women in our lives. I lost my wife nearly 2 years ago next Monday from breast cancer and I was holding her hand too to the end. We seem to wait a lifetime to finally meet our soul mate and when everything is just going dandy it is tragically ended and so close to Christmas. It's just not farkin' fair.

My thoughts are with you and Lyn's family and friends.

You sound like you have good people around you, embrace them.

Hang in there Herb, I sincerely mean that.

Hello Everyone. I have just spoken with Herby regarding flowers for Wed.

He spoke about how he & Lyn felt about this in the past and would much rather a donation towards the Heart Foundation.

I said I would convey his wishes on this page and Seabreeze as well for those wanting to send flowers. Thanks.

Well yesterday arvo there was a Cremation Service for Lyn.
It was held in a beautiful chapel and surrounds at the Atherton
Funeral and Cremations area.
The service was well attended by friends and family and a large
contingent from the FNQMOB and other windsurfers.
Celebrant Marion Reid flawlessly conducted the service.
I did not feel up to reciting a eulogy, so my daughter, Lorraine,
delivered a heartfelt oration about her step mother.
There was a slideshow showing Lyn at various stages of her
life and featured Rod Stewart singing "I am sailing" with great
shots of her skimming over the water. There were a lot of teary
eyes. After the petals and a poem or two we had the stirring voice
of one of Lyn's favourates, Wanda Jackson, blasting out "Lets have a Party"
Which is what we done at my house.
At the party, Cpt Morgan, presented me with the 2012 Summer Cup,suitably engraved with Lyn's name. I am honored to know these fine people.
Finally, I would like to thank you all for the condolences and support that
You have shown.
