Sounds like there might be a few people interested in a go-kart Grand Prix on one of the slow(er) days of the SpeedFortnight.

We'd need at least 10 people to qualify for the $79 race package, so if you're serious about doing it, post your intentions here, and if we can get the numbers, I'll give the Stoney Creek mob a call to see what their availability is (naturally we'd need to pick the actual date only a few days in advance depending on the weather forecasts).

Cheers.

I might give it a try although am now worried as Kato may try and wedge himself in between my kart and the tyre fence...

Do we get a handicap based on weight?

Do we get a handicap based on weight?

Mmm.... that thought had crossed my mind too.

Last time I went karting on a big outdoor track, we had a couple of 60-to-65kg guys while the rest of us were 75kg or heavier; that lack of weight gave them an absolutely massive advantage out of the corners and down the straights, and it made them completely unbeatable...

But not sure how we'd apply a handicap for weight accurately -> the guys who run the place might know how to apply that though..

.. another alternative is we could always pull out the the weight jackets?

No handicap... smaller guys are already handicapped on the water -> got to allow them to win at something...!!!

will they breathalyse us before we hit the track? Might have to make sure not too many bevvies are consumed the night before. I remember our house last year filling quite a few yellow recycling bins with our combined efforts of alcohol poisining

Okay, look's like we've got at least 9 definite's and with a likely 10th (the 3rd Taswegian), we're probably good to line up a race package at Stoney Creek.

I'll give the Stoney Creek mob a call today and see what days they have available for us (will let them know we won't be able to book until a few hours beforehand).

Here's the lineup thus far:

Mind you, the more the merrier (and it'd be good to get a definite 10th person), so if anyone else is interested, post here, or let me know down at Sandy Point.

As to Mathew's point about no weight handicaps, granted, the absolute fastest guys in the world are usually the heaviest, but on the other hand, Finian and Antoine aren't exactly signed up for SpeedFortnight are they?

Hmm.. so who are the lighter guys amongst the locals?.. Sailquik, Mathew and Kato (Kato's actually surprisingly light for his size).

And who are the quickest guys amongst the locals?.. Sailquick, Mathew and Kato!

A cunning ploy, but you're going to have to do better than that!
