Not to be the party poop but I am not so sure what is remarkable about this video. Other than the beautiful water and the speed of the playback that seems obviously sped up ... it is not even that windy ...

Disagree. If you have ever sailed Maui you would know that if he is using a new 6.0 for slalom/speed runs its windy!!! Look at the chop, length of his jumps and the fact he is out of the harness. Most b & f/wave sailors would be on 5.0 and 4.7. Its bloody choppy, camera makes it less so. Not sped up either.

Either way, windy or not, look at the thread title. "Robby Naish style" . Implying that it is a style of sailing not normally featured in the videos in the speed sailing section. Well that's worthy of a remark, ( remarkable) surely?

it actually so happens that I sailed Kanaha quite a lot. Lovely spot. Using a 6.0 freerace sail when people are out with 5.0-4.7 is normal. I am 72 Kg and I am routinely out with 6.5 in rather horribly choppy places when B&J people and freestylers are out with 4.7. Hard to pinpoint the speed increase but the video is obviously sped up, just look the face and body movements. He is going much slower than it looks, body forward, no driving of the fin, you ain't going that fast if you stay unhooked ... he can of course float for miles ... he is a kingly sailor!

Anyway, the water in the video is worth the view!

Sped up? Are you sure? Of course, these Gopro-Shots tend to look faster than they are, but nothing here indicates the footage has been tampered with to me. Don't we all make funny faces seiling on rough water?
I would assume that not even Robby Naish can do these massive floaty jumps without speed and power.
He won quite a few heats in the last Indoor World Cup (admittedly, the stretches between jibes are short there) without even putting on a harness. There, his Old School Strap to strap jibes were irresistable.

A legend, say what you will!
