p.s if you plan to come down to use it could you bring a chainsaw and a full bucket of water.
Looks great, might be a touch gusty though, ......... No wonder the Onboard Speed Demons are leading the T1 overall with that sort of facility!! That rates with Sandy Point!!!!!!!!

But on a serious note, what would be the ideal specifications for a speed canal?
i.e. how long should it be?
how wide should it be?
does it need to be wide enough to gybe or do you have a "cul de sac" arrangement at each end?
Does anyone own a D10 dozer or an excavator?
It wouldn't take much to build a Speed canal, all that is needed is the right spot in terms of a level site, close to the beach to pump water.................if you built something like this in europe you could have two side by side so the sailors sail down one of the canals jibe around a roundabout and back up the other to their starting point.Aa well as bar, restraunt,(might as well throw in a golf course)charge an admission fee and have it open to thousands of keen euro sailors![]()
Hey Choco,
Good one mate. I want to know how we could go for the hour, nm and alpha - that could be a little hard. Will have to come up and sail that speed strip one day.![]()

Mikey that is the sort of guy we need, it's a pity he isn't into windsurfing because i'm sure there would be a speed canal there instead of a marina.
The article does say the guy is/was a developer. Put up a sound economic model and he's sure to be interested.
What is the size of the speedsailing market in Sth East Aus.?
