"Swimmers at Rockingham’s beaches have been warned to be on alert after the sighting of a 6m great white shark earlier today.
Fisheries Department spokesman Tony Cappelluti said a swimmer reported seeing a 6m white pointer off the Bent Street boat ramp in Safety Bay about 10.30am.
Water Police and Fisheries were alerted and aerial patrols have been conducted.
The shark was last seen by the swimmer heading in a southerly direction towards Long Point.
The unconfirmed sighting follows two other sighting of a shark of similar size and species last Friday and Sunday.
Mr Capelluti said it was unusual for white pointers to be spotted in Warnbro Sound, particularly so close to the shore.
He said there were a number of factors that may be attracting sharks into the area at the moment, including snapper spawning."
