What about seeing what sort of speeds we can get out of pre 90's boards. just for fun, not part of the challenge.

I'm already planning some mods to an 80's glass board I have.

Should be good for about 43knots I reckon .......I wish

I've got an old glass wind action speed slalom.... should be good for a laugh, although I'll be pretty upset if it is faster than my present board.

I've thrashed one of the original F2 Sputnik 270s to within an inch of its life, 42.8 kmots on the dial. The old stuff is fast, you just need big balls to hang on and redline it. I remember Dave White in the UK averaged 42 knots over 500 meters with his 270, it was blowing 50 knots at the time though and he's a big boy!

a mate and I were saying the same thing last weekend. We both have slalom boards we made ourselves and reckon it would be fun to see what speeds we could push them to. How bout when someone actually does it in the near future they start a thread and see where it goes.

I don't think my old wind action is in the same league as a sputnik, I'd be happy to get 30 knots out of it.

1st of all Fitz, nice neck brace, didn't c the sand bank ? Actually the Techno is my only lite wind board so its a keeper at the mo. Its the 283 model, 150 litre. Oh and my daughter learns on it when I can get her motivated.

The 283 is a classic worth hanging on to.... I had to stay clear of any magnetic fields while I had the cage on my head Ha Ha

hi fitz66,

if it is retro gear you are after talk to pete. he has a couple of retro needles he shaped. i have one here too. they are great fun to sail but need a good 20+

he also has his old tandem. i sailed that with him in the 90's it was so much fun. but he always made me go up front cause he didn;t trust me. we even took it out in the surf a few times. jumping when up front is the biggest buzz. he mentioned to me last month he was thinking of getting it out of the shed again. also said he may build another.

Hey mate, Pete was talking to me about getting the tandem wet again the other day. Did you know he's out of the shop, currently looking for another unit. The forecast is looking good for some seabreezes this weekend... come on huey

Hey Fitz,
I have a mint condition Bic Allegro if you want retro. The only non original feature is the perfect imprint in the deck of some poor unfortunates testicles. You probably know the chap that left the signature. He is in hiding and his adopted cover is GPS-SS RTK Nth,East and West Australia, so it's probably best we don't mention Gary's name.
If you wish to borrow it, my legal rep. will send some essential paperwork prior.
Disregards

Hi Plev sounds like a plan, I'll get my people to call your people and we can sort out the paper work. Meanwhile back at the ranch Tonto posing as a door got his knob shot off.. sorry I got side tracked.I meant meanwhile I will make some sort of testicular protection

i'd love too. i am heading up the sunny coast on the 20th. so i'll see if it can be done. i don't reckon we ever got anywhere near 35 knots. more like 25knots.
