Thought I'd make a quick post here detailing some recent updates to the site.
1. Better support for Garmin device GPS configuration identification. The site is now better at identifying what type of GPS setup your device has and whether it is optimal for windsurfing. Look out for "Full + Multiband" in your firmware field when uploading a track. This is the ideal setup for recording windsurfing sessions.
2. Calculation corrections for FIT files with duplicated data. As discussed in this post (www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Gps/Garmin-Advice ) some Garmin devices have a timing bug which causes them to occasionally output duplicate coordinates on two consecutive data points. I modified the handling of these situations to better align with how GPSResults handles them which should improve accuracy/consistency of some results.
3. Improved handling of high resolution files for overlays. Recently, to tackle the problem of overlay files being too large for the browser to accept, I made the algorithm for processing KML files much more aggressive for very large files (typically long sessions with motion devices) which resulted in a more angular appearance of some tracks in the overlays. I've turned things down a notch so the overlays should look a bit nicer.
4. Introduction of red dot on the 2s peak. On overlays, a red dot appears at the leading end of the 2s peak. This is to assist in identifying the direction of travel at the time of 2s peak. This is an experiment of sorts.
Known issues:1. Track overlays are sometimes coming out rendered in the wrong order, so that 10s speeds are hiding 2s speeds. Let me know if you have this problem with your track. I'm still investigating this.
2. Garmin devices using Auto-switching of GPS modes (AKA SatIQ) are not being singled out. This is not a desirable setting, and I'm working on improving the identification of this and addition of this information to the firmware field.
