I just tried looking at my yesterdays track and the 1 hr and NM divisions have disappeared from realspeed. I have the latest version, 1.927 i think it is and all was fine when I downloaded it the other day. Should I just download it again or is there an easy fix I'm missing?
Thanks Stribo....however my problems continue. Whilst all the divisions are now there I have no hour or NM calculation in the file for yesterday. I know I definately sailed enough to get a NM and I was definately out for over an hour so I'm a bit confused.....
Have a look at the speed graph at the bottom, that should show start and finish times, to confirm the 1hr.
But I don't think I've ever not had a NM calculation, even if it has multiple gybes in it.
If you would like me to check the file to make sure nothing has happened to that, mail to

received email address edited out for security reasons.
Go to 1 HR>R Click>edit and tick the Accum and Strick boxes
For NM use just Strick and untick the rest you may not have sailed far enough to do a nm without a jybe
Thanks Kato, that did it
BUT....there's always a but huh....my 1 hr is saying 24knots which I'd be really proud of if I had done that but I know there's no way I did. Should the calculation method be time or distance for that division?
Are you still having issues with the file? There are loads of random spikes for the first 60 seconds of your file, including that huge 15,000 km spike. If you just delete the first 60 trackpoints, your file looks normal. Delete Invalid doesn't fix the problem. This is using v1.927 and the team_challenge.rsp file I sent you.
I deleted the abnornal points then deleted invalids and now I have a perfect looking file ![]()
Thanks both Decrepit and Sheartip for both of your helps. I'm still learning new things about realspeed so I now know what I have to delete or look for if I get abnormal readings from now on.
Cheers guys.
One of the features of RealSpeed is that it uses an RSP file to contain all the settings including divisions and calculation settings. However, everytime we install a new version the default RSP is overwritten or replaced which confuses the hell out of everyone. Its an easy fix to put your original RSP file back in as default.rsp but easy to forget.
Perhaps I could build a couple of installs with the GPS Challenge settings built in to avoid this problem. Then when you download from my site you just download the self extracting zip for the GPS Challenge and the particular GPS you are using (one zip for doppler settings and another trackpoints calcs for Garmins). Any thoughts on this?
PS I have updated my website with 1.928 and have included nautical mile, 1 hour and Alpha 500 in teh default RSP to save some problems. However the Tools/Options still need to be configured for your GPS.
using the file available on the GPS TC website under

this file converts fields back to "trackpionts"
which is the rules for 2008
but are people aware of this ![]()

I have created two installations of RealSpeed for GPS Team Challenge, one for Garmins and one for GT's.
The key difference is that the Garmin version uses Trackpoints and the GTxx version uses doppler. However, there are also differences in the calculation settings under Tools/Options where the Doppler based calcs use extra filtering on satellite count (min of 5) and HDOP (max of 4). If that filtering was applied to the Garmin then all points would be invalid. Another minor difference is that the Garmin filtering allows slightly more acceleration due to the jittery track.
The GT version includes two Alpha divisions, one using trackpoints for the GT11 and one using doppler for the GT31. Just choose the one relevant to you when posting the results.
Note that I have removed the automatic inclusion of a shortcut. This was probably the cause of trouble for some people if it was aiming at the wrong folder. You can always create your own shortcut to the new installation, or change the output folder to a standard folder or desktop when extracting the files.
The installs can be found athttp://www.intellimass.com/RealSpeed/Single.htm
