RIP Alva Dave
Gone but never forgotten.
David passed away on Friday night after a battle with cancer.
He was an incredible naturally talented sailor who touched so many with his kindness and generosity in the windsurfing/water sports community giving his time, assistance, advice, support and in some instances equipment.
Knowing Dave made me not just a better sailor but a better person, his loss will be felt deeply.
Love you always.
So sorry to hear this R.I,P Dave .we will miss you at Burrum .loved your lay back nature ,and a super fast GPS racer .❤️my condolences Mirena .

RIP Dave. So talented, I always remember him on the 89FF 7.0 just going nuts the only thing he struggled with was trying to come in, his power to weight ratio was amazing. Before my first trip to Burrum I asked for his advice he sat down in the sand drew pictures and spent so much time with me explaining all he knew about the place, which took a while. The first ever 40 at the train was from Alva Dave so impressive not forgotten.
Such sad news. So sorry for your loss Mirena. He was such a talented windsurfer always impressive to watch at Burrum. I'll remeber him as a kind gentle softly spoken
person who never had a bad word to say. One of the long time windsurfing legends who will be missed by many. RIP Dave
Dave was such a talented and gifted sportsman who also had amazing practical thinking and hands on trade skills. Despite always being one of the best in anything he did he stayed humble to the core and earned high respect from anyone who was lucky enough to know him on his life journey.
He will be sorely missed RIP Dave.
Merena our thoughts are with you.
Sorry for your loss Mirena 😞
I had heard of Dave and how good he was many years before I finally got to meet him, such a really nice guy and a true legend.
RIP Dave
So sorry to hear this Mirena, he was a lovely man and glade i had the pleasure to meet him and have a few chats.Stay strong and thoughts are with you Mirena
Such a special person and will be sadly missed, thanks for being a part of Myself and Jayden's lives RIP Mate
Such a nice genuine bloke. The free advice with a friendly smile was afforded to anyone that wanted to listen. We could all take a lesson from Dave's way!
RIP
Thoughts are with you Mirena.
He said so much just with his look, deep in his eyes you could see the stoke. He couldn't sail much by the time i met him. I'd see him standing around watching everything, unable to partake, seemingly stoked for everyone that still could. You'd think it would be hell for someone like him to be unable to sail, but he seemed to just accept and i never heard him complain.
I don't think it was that long ago, he was sick as, and he grabbed Merena's kit at Burrum and did something like a 38kt peak, when was that session? His last?
When some catch that big final gust over the rainbow bridge and are missed by many, they show what windsurfing is, a very special community. Well done AlvaDave, enjoy your sheep station in the sky.
In my eyes Dave’s the coolest person ever
A mentor and inspiration to me. His wisdom, advice and generosity won’t be forgotten and will stay with me on and off the water forever
Thanks for being such a legend RIP Dave
Memories of Dave from the Alva Beach days....Me, a novice windsurfer and here is this guy throwing forward loops in the NQ chop and sailing at seemingly impossible speeds for us mortals. He would work the crushing season in the lab, then disappear to WA for summer. He competed in WA wave and slalom events as a dark horse and got noticed enough to get sponsorship from the first incarnation of Windtech , bringing a bunch of boards back with him each year.
I left the Burdekin in 1995 and lost touch until we crossed paths in the GPSTC scene and later as a regular at Burrum with Mirena.
He had an unshakeable love for the sport and its people, right to the very end. Mirena... such sad news but I will carry happy memories of Dave for a long time... Troy
