Hi,
After a few late nights and windless days....At long last the doco on last year's Speed Fortnight is complete.
Runs about half an hour and feature interviews with Tony Wyn, Daffy, Spotty amongst some of the other crew.

Just wondering what people would like to see happen next?
eg a screening somewhere? Where? When?
Let me know...

I don't know, you sort of caught me by surprise... ready already?

Is it going to make it to TV?

I guess for us out of staters, a screening is not on the cards, but if we can download a version of it, it would be good.

I am MORE than happy to buy a copy Mick. I'm also sure Sam at Wind Surf N Snow would be happy to put a screening on after hours one night for the NSW boys....well i hope he would anyway

Definately a screening for us locals!! I don't think it is unreasonable to charge a small fee for those who want their own copy - a LOT of work, time and expense has gone into it!

ha, ha, I can literaly smell the sarcasm, peeuww!

Awww come on Mick, it can't be just us two with that special edition. Maybe Jodi can get a copy too?

Flaming dog poo? What are you feeding your dog?

I guess I would have to agree with Andrew, us non-Victorians would probably buy a copy. Only the one, mind, and then we would duplicate it by the thousands in a little shop nearby...

I can't remember much of the footage apart from the interviews with Andrew, Peter, and Daffy, and the mast cam footage from Spotty. It should be good.

hi all,
keep the suggestions coming...
at this stage I reckon I'll put the opening sequence up online for all to see....then for those who want more, I'll offer it as a DVD to be sent out to all the interstate speedies. The trouble with offering it as a download is that it is then considered a broadcast, and therefore we'd have to pay music royalties that'd cost about 10 times more than the cost of the doco!!!

I'm guessing we'd be looking at something like $25 plus postage for the DVD. Does that sound reasonable???
I m keen on a screening in Vic- maybe one at SHQ cafe and one at Sandy Point. I like Kato's idea of screening it at Speed Fortnight..although it seems a long time away.

The last thing Im waiting on is the licensing for music..once that's sorted its all system's go!!!

I am here Flip. I must congratulate you on a Good post the other day with the YES sails. That was very good for you. But FLIP - WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH YOU?? You run more cold than hot[}:)]

Now Drift - $25 is too cheap. I know you are trying to look after your mates but this is your fulltime occupation. We do not want to see you running around in rags. Or not being able to come windsurfing with me because you could not afford petrol. I would be happy to pay $45. Or charge a commercial price and give a discount to Seabreeze trolls no no I mean members. Are you going to retail it through the Windsurfs stores around Australia?

Hi Gesty,
There's still definately copyright clearances required.regardless of the commercial (or in this case non commercial) status of the program.
Seeing that I do this as a profession, I'd much rather do everything above board!
cheers,
mick

Sorry to further disappoint you mate but it didn't get over 20-25 here at the pit Friday arvo. Didn't last long and the tide was well in so no speed sailing. Rule of thumb for the Prom readings is to subtract about 10-15 knots for a WSW direction to get a rough estimate at Sandy Point, but it can often be more and varies a lot.

I noticed in the VIC section there is a film night scheduled for the premiere of the docco. Is there anything happening in the other states? Are we going to be able to puchase a copy anytime soon?

Hi Sick_em
Yes...you'll be able to purchase a copy after the screening....
Once its out there, you might want to organise a manager etc and get ready to do autograph signings at shopping centres all over Sydney!!

Seriously tho', did you want to put on a screeing in Sydney????

I'll talk to Sam Mick and see what he wants to maybe do.
I'll get back to you soon.
BTW, should I go with Max Markson as my agent? I was hoping he could introduce me to Lara
