Yesterday I had 38.17 on my display screen max speed but when I downloaded the file on Realspeed that speed was the 2nd fastest and the following second on doppler (38.92) was faster.
Is there any reason why the gps which logged the higher doppler speed didn't dislay it as the max speed?
Also , a minor point but my trip screen max is always a 1/100th of a knot lower than the speed genie max speed. Que?
I only designed Speed Genie functions. I never use other screens, but thanks for the feedback. Speed Genie displays exactly the same speeds that are written to SD card and Data Logger.
So, when you examine your speeds (using Real Speed for example), the peak Genie speed that you see during the session will be exactly the same as the peak speed logged to SD card and Data Logger.
Recently Speed Genie (and RealSpeed software) went 3D, so if you sail in large waves they can show you the true 3D speed. However, GPSSS rankings are based on "Speed over Ground" (the horizontal speed). In flat water differences are negligible.
