I've been looking for a no-cam sail around 7.5sq m to replace an old Diablo 7.7 I had. I would like something fast, but not with cams or a wide mast sleeve.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these two?
The Point Seven got very good reviews from Windsurf UK which said "Pure unadulterated power. The AC-X is a raw, beast of a rotational sail that defies belief. Light and easy, Point-7 have discovered a magic formula that combines relentless drive with effortless gybing and control."
They are available locally now (free shipping!) from www.thebigblue.com.au so price between the two not really a deciding factor...

Cant comment on the Point-7 sails. However, I'm a massive NCX fan. I have a quiver of them 5.5, 6.5 & 7.5, have just got back from a lake george trip - they're quick and really stable for a no cam sail, best stats from the 2 days: 39.45kt 2 sec & 26.29kt 1 hr

Hi Dan,

You are getting great speeds out of the NCX's. What mast are you running on your 6.5m NCX? I see the recommended mast is 430 although the luff length is 462. At the moment (as I have a 5.0 and 5.7m blades) I'm using my Gorilla 430 mast. I was thinking of getting a 460 90% SDM mast so I could use it on a future purchase of a 7.5m NCX or turbo (haven't decided). I'm 88kg and use it on a Starboard Atomic IQ 110.

Thanks Dean.

Well done DanP! Those are respectable speeds...

I'd be keen to hear about the masts too - most 430's these days are 21IMCS, is this true for skinny's as well? If you use a 460 on it, you'll probably end up with a 460/25IMCS which is a bit floppier?

It's a 430 RDM Daffy special!! Dunno what the IMCS etc is. It's part of a custom bunch that daffy ordered last year from somewhere. It seems stiffer than a true constant curve mast because it's a bit thicker than a regular RDM- which is probably why it works in it, as severne are slightly hard top end of constant curve. I have a 460 SDM severne blue line that I use in my 7.5. I reckon your 430 gorilla will work fine.
