Was stuck in the office listening to the wind belting around the windows - checked the wind graphs and saw +45knots on the Port Phillip windmeters with not super-huge gusts.

If you could hold down a sail and have some semblance of control in those conditions, you'd think doing 50 knots plus should be a cakewalk?

Would have to have been the best conditions (wind-strength-wise) for it this speed-sailing season?

Mind you, when I looked at the graphs it was mainly northerly to NE'erly which isn't exactly the desired direction for Sandy.

But just that wind-strength alone! If you could deal with that and somehow handle the chop or perhaps slip along the northern edge of the channel... who knows!

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Just read it; 'On ya Daff!!

For a "little old man" (according to the "Sail for Sale" sign on the side of the Volvo) you got some great big cojones!

Nice to know someone got out there and had a crack at those conditions and it didn't all slip past unchallenged.

You know, if you'd taken that "Sail for Sale" out on that particular day and you DID manage to hold it down, under the part in the ad where it says "only ridden to 42 kots by a little old man on Sundays" you have could added the following line:

".... mind you, he has ridden it to well over 50 on the odd occasion".

'Reckon if you had that in there you'd shift that sail in a New York Minute for muchos Yankee dollar to certain people with initials like, say, "AA" or "FM" for instance.

Dont give him more tips... he already notes the best speed & date on the foot of his sails.

Just like the how the fighter pilots indicate the planes they've downed eh?

I love it!

Might actually even add to the resale value too?

Hmm... now I come to think of it, that ad may have been for a board rather than a sail but can't be sure... must be the memory going/Alzheimer's setting in...

... um... what was I just saying?...

... and who's Andrew Daff?...

... who am I for that matter?

Aahh, who give's a stuff; there's no wind outside right now so who really cares about any of these things?

Come on Huey, turn on a good stiff 30 knotter and humiliate all those soothsaying weather forecasters out there in the BOM, Windguru, etc, etc!!

Yep, that is one of my tactics to cope with my own Alzheimer's. That way I can remember how fast I have gone!

Don't know about the resale value though. I tend to hang on to the ones with the big numbers on them...........

And yes, it is a board. Starboard Prokids Sonic 50L speed board. Excellent condition (Only ridden over 42 knots by a little old man on Sundays). $1100
