It's a relief that the official world record and the GPS record are now by the same guy on the same run (presumably).
Here ends the debate about who was really the fastest and did A2 hit 50 knots on the canal at Sts Maries De La Mer? etc.
The answer is blowing in the wind - a massive gust with A2 on the front of it!
The GPS record was done on a different day, the 25th November.
We did not receive Antoine's tracks from his WSSRC 500m record on the 21st.
On the GPS record run, Antoine's GPS interpolated 500m speed was 51.9.
The 2 second speed was 54.136 on both GPS! The +/- error reported for that is 0.21, but given 10 sats. and identical readings from both GPS, I would have a high degree of confidence that the indicated speed is very, very close to the actual speed.
I will post the graphs of the record run shortly. ![]()
Here is the same run 500m interpolated. Note the slowish start speed and slowing down before the end gate. This is similar to other graphs I have seen which suggest the speeds could be even faster if the course could be another 50-100m longer. Of course, it can't. There just is not any more room to dig it, and the slow down area at the end is already quite marginal (for 500m).
