Hi Guys

I'm really struggling to get my head around where to start with setting up my GT-31. There's so much info out there and I've read heaps, but still totally confused as to where I start.

Does anyone have a link for downloading NaviLink II? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net and my unit didn't come with the software.

Cheers
Nigel

Hi Nigel,

I don't use navi link much at all for GPS sailing. Even when data fails to save to card you can save the internal data to sd card manually within unit.

Anyway, back to topic. Follow the instructions here... Then your good to go. Whilst you can update it - the software on your gt-31 from new should be all you need.

Thanks Ben. Yeh, that's the page I've been referencing, but I wanted to install Tom's settings, which I need NaviLink for. I currently don't have an SD card, but have one on it's way. Guess I'll have to setup manually and then insert the SD card into my laptop rather than use NaviLink.

When on Windows XP I had no problems using NavLink, getting it to talk to my GT-11 and then GT-31. However I have never been able to get NavLink working with Windows 7. I did not persist with the issue as my GT-31 was storing data fine and had no real problems. The firmware on it is a bit old but it works.

Talking about Windows 7 (and whilst I don't have any Navilink software installed) I plugged my Gt-31 into the 'puter yesterday just to charge and it affected the operation of the programmes running and the wireless mouse. Pulled out the usb and it was all okay again.

I'm running WIN8.1... doesn't seem to like NaviLink at all, but seems to charge via USB3 just fine.

Hmmm. think I've finially got my head around all of this, so hopefully next time I'm out on the water I actually record the session.

The best way to test it is not to take it out on the water first time out. Go for a drive or walk with the GPS and then see if it accurately tracks your movement.

That installs awesome, so now how do I figure out what COM port to use? There's only 1 COMM port available in the drop down list. Cheers!!

Hi Nigel,

I can't recall 100% and am not at my main machine right now, however, I believe (as Tom mentions in step 3) you'll need the usb driver which can be found here:

www.locosystech.com/download.php?fid=69

From there, I'd say Tom's instructions would be the go.

Cheers,
Jake
