Whats the go with this model I see regularly, post from tech savvy guys and girls, of this particular model just not recording data to the cards.
The latest was from one lad from South Aus Speed Demons, who ran two at same session, and neither wrote to card
The troublesome ones cant all be duds.... can they
For those who have experienced same issue, whats the serial number on the back.
Maybe its just a batch number problem.

Oh and thank ........ I still have a workable Navi GT-11

(crossing fingers) Not had any issues with my 31. Far less spikes. Still use the 11 from time to time when I forget the 31 (leave the 11 in the car just in case). GT31 SN 832001747.

Occasionally, you can get the GPS's to not write when you switch it on, then go sailing straight away - without letting it first "lock" onto the satellites.

You can also get it when you use an SD-card which uses the wrong voltage. The SD/MMC spec says that there are two voltages that can be used (1.8v & 3.3v), you need to make sure to use a card that supports the lower voltage... reliably (ie: some 3.3v models work at 1.8v).

I turn my GT31's on and leave them sitting on the back of my ute at least 10mins before i go sailing so don't think that is an issue.
One of my GT31's has frozen up about 6 times now.
The strange thing is that there is only fragments of the tracks on the data logger,if you have a look at gpstc i pasted all that was saved on the logger.
Oh well i have reinstalled the firmware and set everything up from scratch hopefully there wont be any issues from now on.

I leave the buttons open but i do use a washer around the joy stick to prevent it from being pushed might try locking one of the units next time to see how it goes.

Before I started to use the Key Locker it was common to notice that the display would start flashing during the session. Now I always use the Key Locker and never get flashing display.

once again we all "do it a little bit different"
i like to see the numbers flashing, from Max speed to Max 10sec Av.
Then lock the buttons !!

probably on MEMORY CARD your setting is OFF and need to be ON-FIX
gt/bgt31 write data on data logger and parallel on SD card (If you performed FORMAT for the first time using SD card in GT31)
also, with latest firmware, you have option in MISC > save to card
(if you perform that you are shure that data from logger is bacuped on sd card)

Flashing number: Also known as SPEED GENIE
Speed Genie must be ON, and Speed Genie must be set at desired speed
If set on 30 KT, all speed bellow that is not activating GENIE and there is no flashing screens. TIP: If you want flashing screens (max and avg) set the SPEED GENIE at 20 KT
Also, latest firmware needed to choose in MISC which screens you want to flesh it

Ane DELETE option don't delete any data from SD card, don't worry
BUT - You can't read data from SD card directly from GT, YOU NEED TO TAKE SD CARD OUT and put it in some card reader
Sorry for my english, hope I help
