A long run down the bank with a few slingshots thrown in. 20 to 25 knots wind max. Legs burning at the end of the run

Nice Looked like a superfun run - close to a couple of miles?
Reckon the NM is the most fun thing about speed sailing

Dan Meehan set a new w/surf South Island record for the Nautical Mile on Saturday at 34.69kts with a peak speed during the run of 39.4kts. He's also not far away from the outright NZ Nm w/surf record which is 36.18kts, set in 2005 by Chris Torckler at Linfield in Manukau Harbour.

Yup that's it. Didnt even use the full length of it. Wind was easterly but would work around to northerly aswell.. predominate wind is noreast but this year mainly easterly so made use go have a look...which has paid off for us. The other sandbar is 3 km east of the bottom of that one. It's only 500 meters long and works on norwest to noreast

And for the first time in years we have water in the lake at a time when we also have some wind. This lake is drained to the sea when it reaches a certain level and since July it hasn't become deep enough to be a problem.
More of this please Hughie.

Are you guys still dodging that semi-submerged truck?

Haha, no we moved around the corner and found some better sand bars.
The 'rubbish in the lake' problem was addressed a few years ago by 'Fish and Game' who had to do a bit of a clean up as part of the Treaty settlement.
