Great idea. Much better than go pro footage, and so useful for training purposes.
I can see them becoming so popular that there will be a forest of them on the beach.

Better to record yourself and others windsurfing, actually creating something and being creative with editing and music than just consuming the mass media crap that gets thrown at us all day. Most windsurfers like to see themselves windsurfing as we don't really know what we look like windsurfing.

Sure its self centred but its not hurting anyone and for me at least, it give a bit of enjoyment and and somewhere to be a bit creative, and learn some new skills.

If you're having problems doing something, there's nothing like being able to watch yourself to see what you're doing wrong..

Nice to watch yourself and see that you maybe have achieved something..... sorry we aren't all special enough to be filmed, JP etc... if you want to see what you enjoyed today in 30 years time... is that a wank stick?..... by the way I think your a f**#stick.
go and watch your robot dragon fly's and keep your thoughts to yourself....

Yep it's self indulgent for sure but who really gives a sh!t, It's very cool. I invest a lot of time getting video and photos of others...Which I really enjoy doing but I would like to improve my own sailing and video is the only way that is going to happen, Especially with wave sailing. I fell like a bit of a d!ck asking someone else to film me so the soloshot has opened up a new can of worms for me, Just set and sail.

Leo, the soloshot will be at lake Illawarra this winter....I'm going to make a speed sailing movie, Illawarra style.

See ya there.

Here's the 2 test runs I've had with the soloshot...

It works really well and the tracking is very smooth, Better then I can manage....Even with a tripod.

Hey, this might be a dumb question, but what is to stop someone walking off with your camera and soloshot doodad while you are out sailing??

I like the concept though and the vids are good!

In a video for the Soloshot they talk about this. The tripod has a security cable loop so you could perhaps loop the cable around something. I think there is another loop so you can secure the camera too.

Of course this is not very useful on a beach with nothing to loop the cable around.
