I'm no speed sailor but with the rapid advancements that kiters and boats like l'Hydroptere have made I can't see us ever holding the world speed record again. These guys are getting faster each time they hit the water whereas sailboard speeds seem to have hit a barrier.

I read that the record was broken in less than 30kn of wind. Now that's efficient !

Dunno if speed windsurfing has hit a barrier. Any barrier set is a barrier waiting to be broken. The GPS scene has opened up the field of speed sailing to many more windsurfers than the traditional speed event sailing.

Sites like this encourage discussion, collaboration and shared experience that could discover a new location or help develop new ideas to break speed records.

That boat is amazing. Good on them for keeping at it.
