This is a question for the Burrum locals, does any one know whether there is reliable mobile broadband connectivity at Burrum Sands Motel? Although I've got a week at Burrum I still have to do some work and require an internet connection. Last time I was up we stayed in that housing estate on the right before town and my 3 mobile broadband didn't work. I'll get a prepaid Telstra one if I know it'll work.
Thanks.
we were using Dylan's mobile last year to look at the seabreeze graphs.
it is patchy so you may need to move around a bit. i'm not sure what service provider dylan had.....
my mobile was working also. where i found coverage the worst was in the rooms.
I work at dick smith part time, so i can tell u that if you want any type of decent connection you will have to fork out money for the bigpond one. It has the coverage the others don't. But you can check on all of the brand's webpages for availability of coverage by typing in the address you will be staying at.
There are two telstra wireless modems, the 7.2mbps and the everyday one. the 7.2 is only available at telstra shops or T-life stores i beleive. it is more expensive initially but has better coverage and faster speeds.
hope this helps a bit, i know telstra is awfully expensive, but it would be tax deductable on the upside ![]()
Cool, thanks Richard and others. I'm thinking about the Turbo version as there is also an external aerial you can buy. Failing that I'll have to use my iPhone as a modem and burn the bucks...
I was using a Telstra NextG card in a laptop with a small external antenna, and that gave pretty good reception at all times, even inside the units.
I've never had good mobile coverage there (with Virgin) inside the units. I've always had to go to the road for signal.
Cheers,
Dylan.
I use the older Bigpond modem when traveling and need to access work.
When the coverage was marginal once I bought an external antenna and the reception went from marginal to excellent which was better than my phone would do. I would recommend an external antenna if you think the coverage may be marginal.
I'm not sure about Optus 3G mobile broadband but my friend's phone plan is with Optus 3G and she had very unreliable phone coverage. Her partner and I both are with Telstra 3G and the phone coverage was fine but my 3 mobile broadband didn't work until I went down to Hervey Bay.
How bout 3
Their coverage map only says phone and txt, did anyone try their wireless broadband last time ?
