Wed, hoped to join Hardy & Elmo on the estuary before the wind died, but Bugs told me the re cut of his old 6.0 slalom was just about ready.
It's now about 5.5M so ideal size for Wed 18-23 conditions, trouble was the wind didn't quite do what it was supposed too. By the time the sail was finished the wind had stopped.
Hoped Bugs could join me today, to try the re hack out, and get him on the scoreboard.
But he's got to get some moth sails ready for a Fri deadline, they're off to Italy for some of our guys to use in the World championships.
Elmo & Hardy had too work as well, so although I got another couple of PBs (5 X 10sec & alpha) my efforts don't count.
Conditions today was similar to Tuesday (15-20) when I had a 6.6m up, today with the 5.5 my 2sec was 1kn slower but 5 X 10sec was marginally better and alpha was over 2knots better.
Didn't think I was overpowered on Tues, felt a bit underpowered today, but with same board and fin, did about the same. Going to be interesting to get this sail in steady 20-25 conditions.
The Alpha results I put down to the sail, it's so user friendly.
Bugs has managed to get some of the ease of use of his wavesails into this slalom, without loosing any speed or stability.
It rotates by itself in about 10kn, no pumping to get it to snap over, means power comes on quicker, and there's no destabilising maneuver to interfere with accelerating away.
Might not worry somebody whose always used cambered sails, but I've only had a few sessions with them, and they were giving me a hard time.
I'm very impressed with your Alpha speeds, the Alpha Racing has got me right in, it's a great allround test of windsurfing skills, "you da boss o Man Mob Alfa now bro", said in his black ghetto accent!!!
