Super keen to try out this spot after reading a few older post. Been watching the Gabo Island forecast for Friday and thinking it could be ok for Goodwin Sands. Anyone have any up to date advice?
Looks possible but not epic.

You will probably need a low tide as the sand is still in a rebuilding stage.
You will also need a boat to get there. Hire boats are available on the lake.
Thanks Sailquik, Yeah i see the Mallacoota forecast is not as strong as Gabo Is. It doesn't have to be epic, I'd be happy with a solid session on slalom gear just to check it out. Its been holding pretty steady for a couple of days but starting to slip now
Tides running out from 10am so hopefully the wind holds out for the arvo. Fingers crossed! Ive checked out the boat hire which seems easy enough. I've noticed some weed on the sandbar in a youtube clip, is there enough to need weed fins?
Report on our Mallacoota trip.
All in all it went well. Wind didn't come in till after lunch at around 15 -20kts SSW - SW (I think?), bit more at times. It was swinging around a lot which made it tricky to get a good run back up the sandbar at times. Still had quite a nice arvo and got a really good look at the place. We'll be back
Anyway heres a link to a short clip of our session. Picture quality is not good because I tried a new setting which was a fail.
