Hi Guys,

I have previously connected the GW60 no problems since I started using it end of Jan about 15 times.

ATM I am getting charge from the PC to the GW60, then I do as i have before -plug in, go into settings, scroll to "To USB MSC", hit adjust & it normally appears as a drive on the mac, but not tonight.

I have tried a different cable, the wife's Mac but no luck

I have also cleaned the terminals on the back (I rinse off in fresh water after use)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Geoff

Are the terminals on the plug all sticking out completely?

It could be a Mac/Locosys problem. About half of the time, the watch will connect to the Mac without any problems. Most of the other times, it will connect within a few seconds, but Mac will show a dialog "Cannot repair disk" (which can be ignored). But every now and then, it can take a few minutes or even an hour to connect.

One thing to try is connecting the watch and just letting it sit for an hour or two. Make sure your Mac does not go to sleep.

The faster thing to do is to connect the watch to a Windows computer. That usually works right away, if it's not a problem with the terminals or cable. Download the data from Windows and erase the data on the watch. Sometimes, I have been able to connect to a virtual machine on the Mac when the watch did not mount on the Mac (in COM mode using the Locosys software, IIRC).

Another thing you can try is to record some more data on the watch, and then try connecting again. You may have to set min speed to 0 if it's higher, and the analysis may be affected, depending on how you do it. I'm not sure if this really works, but the problem seems to be related to the file system or state of the watch, so it may be worth a try.

The good news is that the problem appears to go away again at some point, after deleting and recording new data. Perhaps not right away, but I've never had problems for more than a few sessions in a row.

Thanks for the responses Guy's,

I will try cleaning again, how does everyone clean the terminals? (I have been using a toothbrush & fresh water)

Yep all the pins are sticking out (I tried a new cable which is the car charging cable which was unused)

I will take the watch to work & put a small recording on it on the way to see if that jigs it into being able to be read

will let you know how it goes

Thanks

Geoff

Hi,

I have just started using GW60 and could not connect it to my mac.
What is the software that I need to update on my mac / GW60?

That is normal right now - there is absolutely nothing wrong with the cable nor GW60. It started to happen this behaviour few months ago (before the Locosys icon appears immediately on the desktop). It still works perfectly well with Windows laptop whenever I connect my GW60 to it. This problem happens only with Mac. But don not worry, you just have to be very, very patient with it. After you have connected your GW60 to a Mac you just have to wait from 1 second to upto 2 hours - usually within 45 minutes the Locosys icon will pop up on the right side of the desktop about the middle hight. But you have to be very quick to move that file from the Locosys icon to the desktop as this icon will be visible there for 10 seconds upto 30 minutes - usually about less than a minute - then the Locosys icon will be gone (you get the notification that your Locosys was disconnected...) but it will reconnect later again by itself. I always surf on the net while waiting for the Locosys icon to appear on the desktop. You just have to make your browser smaller on the right side so that you can see when the icon pops up on the desktop. Annoying but this is the only way to get the files from a GW60 to a Mac.

Yes, yes, I have the lates updates on my Mac and GW60 but the problem is there to entertain me...

So this is software prob of the Mac or GW60 - at least these guys do not like each others.

Hi Nick,

this is is the guide I used when starting

https://www.windsurfinggear.com.au/blogs/guides/gw60-data-upload-guide

Hi G30ff0,

I followed the procedures but got the error message " Operation not allowed" when I pressed the adjust button.

Nick

Hi Nick, are you pressing adjust when 'to USB msc' is highlighted? If you have it on 'USB class ums' that's when I have gotten the same error message (have done after a few wines on the off occasion)

If you are trying to change from com to ums mode, you'll get that message if you're connected to the computer. You can only change modes when you are disconnected. Once in ums mode then you can connect to the computer
