looking like the last chance for whats been the lamest month ever (even for NSW) is tomorrow with a moderate NE forecast
who's up!?
I think we'll have to find some way of compensating this for next year. If people are keen and want this to be an annual event, I think we need to consider having discards, 1,2 or 3 months out of 12 which are discarded. We'll debate it around nov, and decide in december. Something like gpsteamchallenge winner is the best 10/12 months????
sounds like a great idea Hardie. It has been truly crapola wind wise here and only has blown mid week which is for the lucky few. Fingers crossed we have some early nor easters heading our way soon and we can post some speeds again.
Mike if there is anyway possible of me getting out for a blat I'll be there! Where you thinking of going....Kyeemagh?
being a Gong boy and on a day like this its hard to drive past Sandon Point - but the GPS will be on for sure
i'm trying to rev up the rest of the Sydney boys though so at least we have two results - but got to say 'excited!!'
my new isonic has just arrived (like 5min ago), although if the forecast is true (the wind is swung NE) to word my new Kombat is going to be christened. its like the stars are aligning!
Forecast:
Thursday until midnight: Wind:N/NE 10/15 knots, increasing during the afternoon to be 20/30 knots late in day and evening. Sea:1 to 1.5 metres rising to 2 to 3 metres later. Swell:SE about 1 metre
Hey boys,
Ive got the big stuff in the car for Sydney's forecast but who knows. Its starting to go NE around the Botany area.
Only problem is enough time to get out after work.
Gotta agree its been a shocker for wind the last 3 months.
Next year lets just dump june, July and August altogether![]()
nice 18-20knts, sunny, warm![]()

Has anyone ever sailed a NW off Manly beach? I was at Shelly the last time a NW hit and the wind funnelled in really well. It was cross shore at the Bower beach. There are some rocks around when launching but it was super flat and very consistent...
Not that spot but have sailed Collaroy/Basin ages ago. It was a bit gusty but as good as Palmy.
Tomorrow is the 1st of Spring = no wind [}:)]
basically park at the car park at the end of Point St Bulli - which is basically overlooks the point itself. we rig up on the grass there and have to walk down the hill to the beach, which is to the immediate south of the point. the low level rocks of the point gives a very protected, easy launch
in a good Nor-easter its one of the most insane places to sail, maybe not so much for wavesailing (although its not bad) but blasting and jumping its awesome - and its generally always moderate to big swell, with pretty safe waves regardless of their size
in a southerly, and if we're game, we head of 'peggies' which is the point to the south of Sandon, at the other end of the beach. its a bit more full on
unforunately - the nor-easter we had yesterday (which was at its best around lunch, swungs to the north a bit, went patchy and then died) is typical of what happened late last season - makes me worried if we are experiencing some changed weather patterns and what that means for the coming season
but if your keen and there is a NE blowin - head down!!!

WOW.....over an hour or driving to get to Palmie, blowing Nor West as expected....MASSIVE low tide (full moon) meant having to trudge about 100m out into the water before i could even put the board down. As expected the wind dropped pretty much as soon as i got in but came back every now and then to at least put a small smile on my face. Bring on Summer!!!!!
Oh and by the way Larko, you missed NOTHING mate!
Thanks A!!!
I got out yesterday but the wind was pretty light and didnt last long.
Still, great to get back on a board again and it was a nice day.
All in all, a good Fathers Day.
Yesterday was so tempting! i thought there was no wind then went to Long Reef and Collaroy had heaps of white caps.... i almost went out but decided it was going to drop so played golf instead. This week looks interesting!
Best I can offer was Sunday on a 11.8(not a kite) in 10-12knots. Peak of 24.9 but GPS didn't put any data to the memory card for some reason so it doesn't really matter anyway. Good to be on the water again even if only on big kit.
Impressive speeds Sam!
Today would be good, in fact I've already had 2 hours out, overpowered on a 5.7m! My alphas would have been great - however I forgot my GPS!!
All I got was a 24.1 on Sunday with a 7.6 TR3, Falcon 111 and the shortest, strongest gust of the day[}:)]
dead flat water.
got a play on my new Kombat 89 and Alpha up against my dad on his new JP FSW 85 - verdict = both pretty bloody good!
not exactly speed sailing but bloody good fun and i posted anyway (better than last month!)
