Hey guys I've got these still hanging around.
Does anyone still use them?

The GT31 is a bit corroded around the USB and wont charge but did work - the BGT is still working and good order

They are certainly still used, more accurate than the canmore, (which is likely to be phased out). and heaps of battery and storage. If the upcoming motion will be too expensive for you, and you don't want a GW60, the GTs are the obvious choice, especially if there is no corrosion around the usb port, That can lead to poor SD card connection.

Anyone want a new in box never used one?
BGT31 approx $240.
I have found 3!!!
They are pretty much a benchmark unit and their accuracy is still verifiable.

Can someone not just copy them... They haven't been surpassed.

The reason they went out of production was the GPS chip. It reached end of life and is no longer available. So copying is not an option.

Could you just plug a new chip in? I have no idea obviously.

I appears to me that the available chips are plenty good enough for us and if the circuits for buttons screens etc (remember I know nothing) are in place then hijacking seems doable?

BTW I know nothing or maybe even less

The idea of building from the ground up an electronic device for a small audience is mind-blowing for me. Hats off to everyone except for Mike cos he wears a cool aero-techno(enabled)-helmet!

I'm fairly sure locosys, could have retained the externals and just replaced the necessary electronics. But I think marketing gave them a bum steer about watches being the "in thing"

There is not doubt that the GT-31 was a revolutionary GPS for our purposes, but it was far from perfect.
The biggest complaint was lack of waterproofness. They must be used in a reliable waterproof bag. Many were drowned when bags leaked. Another comlaint was incidences of units 'freezing' and having to be run flat over many days.
Many complained that they were too hard to 'set up'.

The 5Hz GW-52 does supass the GT-31 for accuracy, and so does the GW-60 in most circumstances.
The GW-60 addressed the biggest complaint being the only one of the three that is 'Waterproof'. It also addressed the clamouring from forums to make it a watch. In this case, people got what they asked for.
