2nd time out my my Falcon 102. It was about 25-28knots S-SSE. Not the most exciting video and it's my first attempt at editing, so sorry 'bout the quality... I also forgot to use an anti-fog thingy in my GoPro housing. I've tried to keep it short coz so it's not too boring. Hopefully my next video will be more interesting.
great vid Nigel but that sail looks horrible, like I said that winch is a bit short and not good for max downhaul, next time your sailing and Dezza's around get her to give it an extra 5cm she doesn't need a winch
, I thought you mite have jagged an alpha as you were pulling off some really nice jibes
the lake is full to the max and lucky it didn't open , it wont be as smooth the next time you sail there but probably still one of the better spots to sail in ssw ,s and a strong s/e

Hey Keith... I thought I might've had too much DH that day actually. I find this sail looses its nice deep draft if I put too much DH, and the cams don't lock-in or flip as nicely with lots of DH. That day I had a fair bit of DH and the leech was pretty loose in even in the panel above the boom, which I generally have tight and get a deeper draft. I also set the outhaul to the sail specs, but find that it'll touch the boom if I do this... not sure if that's a good thing or not.
Rigging tips are most welcome :)
nice vid
your gybes are too timid :)
your sheeting out on the entry and your way too close to the boom
Ir works but its slowing you down
to gybe really fast need to get lower bend those knees a bit more sheet IN on you y back hand to de-power not sheet out
and front hand needs to punch out to fully extended pushing the mast out to arms length. this will force your body wright to move forward and keep board flat which in turn keeps its speed up
Sheeting out and pulling sail close to yuo will make you lean back and push the tail of the board down like a break.
It feels super weird at first and constantly feels like your about to get catapulted but what you will find is the increased board speed into the turn will reduce the apparent wind and the saiil will be almost weightless.

Yes they are doing full on lay downs but the principle is the same
Hey keith, I think that's you blitzing by in that first few seconds of Nigel's vid. Looks like your new NP sail ![]()
Thanks Roar.... food for thought :) Always welcome feedback, especially from someone who has a 4 second faster alpha than me ![]()

I like your attention to detail Nigel. Before taking advice from someone, check out their speeds in the GPSTC!! Fair enough!
Great video mate just what i needed to see after the week imm having ,see you next session at the lake cheers gav![]()
Nice vid and I like the music. I noticed a few comments about your gybing technique. I though your gybes looked pretty good, knee's bent and bodyweight low. However that is more of a choppy water technique and you are sailing in flat stuff so the guys have a point you could probably go for more of a power gybe in that stuff.
I'm a little mystified by your stance? are you using a weed fin because that would explain it I think.

Yes, using a weed fin and I have very limited experience on a slalom board... that's my second time sailing the falcon and the straps felt further back than I'm used to. I definitely need to work on my style to suit the board and get the most out of it. I'm used to the forgiving Rocket I generally ride. Still, I was pretty happy to get a 20+ alpha that day.
