Latest update..
"Good winds again from the early morning on for this fourth day of competition in Karpathos, so the second round was completed with the gold fleet. After making the new seeding, bronze and silver were sent out for round three. Afterwards the wind died a little bit, but came back around 16:00. Gold was send out for leg three, but after 20 minutes the wind died completely and the race was abandoned.
As the race was already valid at that time (both Finian Maynard and Patrik Diethelm went 5 times over 33 knots) a request for redress was given to satisfy the disadvantaged sailors. The race is already valid, but the race will be continued for the remaining leg time as soon as possible. At the moment, Finian Maynard is in front of Chris Lockwood from Australia in this race.
The third leg of the women was won by Valerie Ghibaudo, which is in lead now in the overall ranking. Karin Jaggi is second, Zara Davis third."
With the seedings, it seems after the end of each round the bottom 5 sailors go down ( ie from gold to silver, silver to bronze) and the top 5 sailors of the lower groups are promoted for the next round. It's a pretty small course (250m) so obviously they don't want 60-70 sailors interferring with each other.
Each heat is 40 minutes unless a top 5 position changes in the last 5 min then it is extended 10 mins.
I hope Chris holds his 2nd (or even improves). He is certainly heading in the right direction 11, 6, 2.
Yo

Unfortunately ( for him) he dropped from 2nd to 8th in the 3rd leg when they continued it the next day.
Interesting point. The leader of the comp is using unheard of (at least here in Oz) Point 7 sails. Italian company I think. Pryde and North must be a bit pissed given what they pay Finian, Antoine and Bjorn and the rest etc. Point 7 look a bit like an RS5. Reminds me of the days (early 90s) when Arrows were just the previous years Prydes.
Jose (the big Guadeloupean with a laid-back style) has been at the top of the speed since the early 90s. World vice-champion 98, 99, 00.
Obviously he's still got it...
I saw a picutre of one of those point 7 sails if the karpathos pics... had no idea what it was... cheers yoyo![]()
Chris finished 9th . Fantastic effort . I think everyone above him ( not sure about Jose though) are full time pro,s and the big international stars of Windsurfing .
Especially fantastic effort considering he is using the KA sails he helped develop with AMAC and the board that he designed for Carbon Art .
Well done !!!
Is this the boy(slowboat) hard at work?
