Hmmm, for me these sites are always slow to load and GPSTC in particular is often unresponsive when posting results. Do others have this experience? I had always presumed they were being hosted on a tight budget/home servers and therefore not super speedy, but just wanted to check if others had a better access experience.
Seems to vary, late evenings here when every body else has gone to bed, is quite fast. But after a good day when everybody is using it it can be slow.
I think you're right about the server.
You gets what you pays for.....& we pay bugger all for two superb and helpful, I guess (windsurfing) community sites.
I'm happy to wait if they are taking their time. ![]()

Yup, if its a problem then perhaps chipping in a couple of grand will speed things up.

I have no idea of the technical side or requirements, but I do have an unused server available if that is of any help?
If anyone is interested in knowing about it, ka72.com is hosted on Microsoft Azure. It used to be hosted at Studiocoast on the Gold Coast, which was great as an initial hosting provider (around $20/month) but only single-threaded, so if someone was already uploading a file, you had to wait your turn and the site stopped responding.
Also, they were very tight with hard drive space, and considering I've got over 100,000 gps files, plus another 100,000 kml files to store, it outgrew that eventually.
The current hosting situation is on much faster, more redundant machines. However, I chose to host ka72.com in western europe (Ireland to be precise) since there are lots of users of the site around there. This may mean that your connection goes through a lot of hops to get to the website, which may make connections slow. (When I set it up on Azure, Australian hosting wasn't an option. It is now, but I'm too lazy to move it since generally speaking it's still way faster than it used to be.)
Dylan.
