Yesterday I updated the ka72 website to add the long-awaited "My Tracks" section.
This is a library of your tracks that have been uploaded to ka72.com
Soon I'll be adding the ability to reclaim your tracks that you have uploaded in the past. For some sailors there are hundreds of past uploads on ka72.com that could be incorproated in your library.
The current track library is basic, and I will be adding more features for the next few days and fixing up cosmetic glitches as I find them.
Things you can do:
Sort and search through your tracks by keyword
Download the originally uploaded file
Edit visibility and track type
Here's what the visibility levels mean:
Public - Anyone can see/download this track from the search screen.
Registered - Only users that are logged in can see/download this track from the search screen
Private - Only you can see/download this track
Hidden - Only you can see/download this track (I am adding an option to not display Hidden tracks in your library. This is like deleting a track from the website.)
There are some other security levels that are not fully implemented yet. I have a "Friend" level (perfect for sharing your new secret spot with your "Friends" on the website) and a "Official" level (for competition use) which are in the pipeline.
Things in progress:
Being able to manage your own settings (default distance and speed unit, which is km and knots, is already a user setting, but not one that can be easily changed.)
File Splitter (I am finally adding a capability to split a file so you can take out the drive home.)
File Joiner
Any feedback gratefully accepted. I took a week off work to get this library done, it's been a long time coming.
Also, I am presently reprocessing all the old files in the system. This process will take a few more days, and may result in occasional slowdowns of the website. Please bear with me, there are over 66,000 files still to go as of writing this.
I appreciate all your effort Dylan. Taking a week off work to work on KA72 is a big commitment.
I have often thought I'd like to put together a collage of all my tracks to show my progression over the years.
This sounds like it will make the task of finding them all a whole lot easier!

Anita, you can get all your tracks from GPSTC in Excel format for each year.
You can then search for words etc or sort by category
If you choose download you will get a box with "open with" or "save file"
If you save them on your computer, from "my tracks", you need to add the ".gpx" extension to the file
Then you can use any gps analysis software : "gpsar"/"gpsresults"/etc... or gps track viewers like "gps visualizer"/"google earth"
If you choose "open with" (and have google earth on your pc) you just have to select it from the list and voila !!!
Dylan, it might be worth adding the little green globe icon next to each file as in the "search" page, to be able to "re-open " it through ka72 ?

When you click "Download" from the My Tracks screen, the original file name should be the one used. No need to add .gpx to a file.
You're right, I should put the globe icon on that screen too for consistency. At the moment, the link that does this is on the pop-out menu ("Overlay and Results") that you get when you click the little green plus icon.
I'll move it onto the My Tracks screen.
I was trying to make it less busy, since I want you to be able to add your own columns on there (e.g. 2sec peak, 5x10, etc.) but that's not done yet...
Dylan.
Thanks Sean.
Saved it via GPS Results, then opened in Google Earth. Could not actually download Google Earth, but still got the overlays :)

Doesn't seem to work on my pc, the downloaded file comes out as a "application/octet-stream" file, when clicking on file properties it says format is "file"
Tried using it as it is on gps results : doesn't work, add .gpx : works
But still stoked to have all my files stored in a safe place with free access !!!

OK, that's a bit strange.
What browser (and version) is that on? Does it happen with all files? How about the kml link from the Track Details screen?
Dylan
I've added HTTPS to the site over the weekend.
This has made a few things a little shaky (particularly having trouble with overlays today.) Please bear with me and post in the ka72 forum if you find anything amiss.
Dylan.
