Hi folks,
came back from an unreal sail last sunday, checked the results on realspeed and was stoked to find a personal best speed. however my pb had improved by a couple of knots, which got me wondering how do you tell if point(s) are a spike or a genuine reading?
anyone...
Thanks,
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
If you are using a GT-11 or GT-31 the standard filters should pick up 99% of 'spikes' (errors).
Unfortunately, that does not work with GPX files from Garmins as they don't have the extra data necessary for the filters to operate.
Minerals explanation is excellent but if you are still not sure send you file to me at sailquik@hotmail.com and I will double check it for you.
Cheers, Andrew
thanks sailquik & mineral1. the "ramp-up" and "ramp-down" seem smooth enough, similar to most other runs that day.
sailquik, i have sent you the gpx file 'cause i would appreciate a 2nd opinion.
by the way i use a gt-11.
cheers,
andrew
yeah, i know. i have been doing that but must have changed a seting by mistake because lately this has not been saving an sbn file (just realised this last sail and fixed up the settings). i do get an "sbp" file when i use navilink to get data from gps though (this is the file i sent you, sailquik)
