The last few seasons we have sailed both the Watch and Gw52 screen flashing on and off , downloads fine but just hard to tell what results you have had over the session .

Any one else having issues

Yes have had the same thing happen regularly over the last few weeks, seems to not be picking up enough satellites... happened each time mid to late afternoon

Had mine do the same while sailing with Mr Keen. Both did same at same time.

Sounds like bad satellite conditions to me, especially if different units are doing the same thing.
One of the reasons we are pushing for the next generation units to be multi system..

Yeah I lost all my sessions after it started. Lucky I had the GT31 as backup.. Happened twice.

Yes there is really bad satellite coverage on the east coast at the moment. Currently between 2 and 4pm we only have 5 or 6 available, it doesn't take much for the GPS to lose reception in these conditions.

Yes mine did the same at Gold Coast Train on the 24th Dec in the afternoon, it kept the distance sort of ticking over after I did few watch restarts but I lost any speed information during the flashing

looks like the motion will be doing GPS, GLONASS and Galileo. I did a test for Julien today with my DIY logger, with those three systems plus the Japanese QZSS, and had 28 satellites, the GW52 had 9. This should be a big improvement in very poor conditions.

Anyone out there who hasn't had a problem with a GW60. Reminds me of the Leyland P76 which ended up being called a P38 because it was only half as good as it was claimed to be.

Yes. Me. Not one single thing I would call a 'problem'.

I am sure there are lots of others too, but they dont complain because they dont have any problems.

I've had my share of problems, and I'm seriously p**d at Locosys for claiming the watch cannot be repaired when Mike proved the opposite, but it's still the GPS I use the most. It's just too darn convenient, and works just fine most of the time.
If I think a session may be good enough for PBs, I often also use a u-blox GPS or a GW52 as backup; other days, I rather use GPSLogit to tell me how fast I am. Quite fun to fun out that you can sail through Fangy's thickest weeds without loosing any speed!

I wear mine as a watch and use it a lot sailing and have never had a problem. It was one of the very early ones. The charger once had a pin stick and that just needed a tap for it to spring back out.

Anyone who has not had problems is very lucky or not sailing much time on water.

I am constantly helping people with software and hardware issues.

I am now on my third watch.

Best way to try to prevent issues is to wash in fresh water straight after use.

Never push buttons while on water as they are not waterproof.
Many of the issues I have seen are from salt getting into contacts.

Also have had the issue with zero readings in the afternoon however distance is still recording.

That's the big one Cocky, not only when on water, but if the watch is wet when you get back on land, Water can collect inside the button housing, pushing the button lets it into the watch. Mine got water in because I was wearing it over a bunched up spray jacket, when I crashed the spray jacket pushed the buttons underwater.

The zero readings are a poor satellite problem, the watch has a smaller antenna than the other devices, and the underhand grip doesn't help either.

I have also been lucky the strap fell apart within 2 months, so it has spent most of its life in an aqua pac, so have not had any other problems

I bought mine the same time as Daves and it died the other day. It was turned off and then started vibrating for no reason. I didn't wear mine as watch maybe thats the secret....... I think it lasted 2 years or was it a year......

It's always worth waiting for it to discharge completely, then connect to computer again. It may just come good. The other thing to try is a firmware reload/update.

Had the zero readings yesterday and in GPS results there was 5 satellites instead of 9.
The Distance was 5 km less in GPS results and on GW60 than when uploaded to KA.
The Garmin had no issues with data or distance at the same time.

Modern Garmins use the Glonass system as well as the tradition GPS system, so there will always be plenty of satellites in view

I have garmin edge 810 push bike gps and yesterday between 7.30am and 8.15am i could not get a signal. I use this gps often in this same location and have never had a problem before. So issues are not limited to the GW-60
