This is in relation to the GPSTC DataFields created by TBWonder and available via the Garmin Connect store online.

I'm just wondering how to set up the various other settings in an activity when creating a new activity that uses these datafields. I'm setting up on a Garmin Fenix 5, and after setting up the data screens, there are these other options. Some are self-explanatory, but I'd appreciate guidance on any that are important. These are the Activity settings in the order they appear on my watch, and the default values are noted in brackets.Alerts (none)
Metronome (off)
Auto Lap (Manual Only)
Auto Pause (Off)
Auto Climb (Off)
3D Speed (Off)
3D Distance (Off)
Lap Key (On)
Auto Scroll (Off)
GPS (Normal - GPS Only)
Power Save Timeout (Normal)
Background Color
Accent Color

Particularly want to know if I should change GPS to one of the other options, and I'm probably going to switch off all the lap stuff. Does anyone use that?

I've set mine to GPS and Glonass, but I don't think it's really necessary.
Have also set Auto Scroll to slow so that it scrolls between the fields, but that really comes down to personal preference.

One important setting if you haven't already done it, is to go into settings/system/data recording and set to every second.

Leave everything on default except the GPS. Which I have set to GPS + GLONASS. It will use a little more battery but it is worth it for the better chance of getting a reliable GPS signal.

Whilst you are experimenting with these datafields I would appreciate it if you could turn on the "GPS Signal Logging to FIT File" option in Datafild 2 and then try loading the resulting FIT files into KA72.

LOL yeah, I've told enough people to do that over the years that I'd be pretty stupid to miss that one. But it is ALWAYS worth checking.

Thanks for the input. I've set it up as suggested and will take a look at the fit file when I can. I don't actually sail myself but Kellie wants to try it out this week if she gets a chance.

Yes... I would have hoped you'd be on top of that one Dylan!!

I've been using Andrew's data fields on my Fenix 5 since he first developed them and they work great.
