Havent used my GW60 since LG back before Covid. Plugged it in to charge but nothing happened. I left it for awhile and saw it was charging for a very short time. Dont think it did much good. Wont turn on etc. Ive never had any problems with it, so far!!! But it doesnt get used much.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Probably the battery, I had a similar problem with one of my diy loggers.
It had been unused for several months, and the battery was blown up like a balloon, totally stuffed.
Lithium batteries don't like going flat, and the GW60 seems to have a small drain even when off. So I suspect the battery is dead.
Somebody here has found a replacement battery, that worked well. But I can't remember any details. I'll do some searching and get back if I find anything. But in the meantime good luck cleaning the terminals, that's any easy fix, if the battery is still OK.
Well that didn't take long, occasionally I do the sensible thing and take notes.
That's 602025 for the new. 552425 for the old.
The new is 6mm thick 20mm wide and 25mm long.
The old is 5.5mm thick 24mm wide and 25mm long
So google 602025 lithium battery, it's not quite the same but it fits.

See how the old one has blown up. If you open the back of the watch and your battery looks like that, you need the replacement
I thought I had some pics of the GW60 opened up, but so far I can't find them.
OK, traps for old farts, store your phone pics under "phone pics". look for GW60 pics under GW60. hallelujah for the search function.

so looks like a fine tipped soldering iron is required to change the battery
Not wanting to hijack the topic but my GW60 charges up and works OK, but it won't upload onto my computer. Is it possible for the terminals to be good enough for charging but not good enough for data?
>>>Is it possible for the terminals to be good enough for charging but not good enough for data?
Certainly is!!!! That happens all the time, again the solution is to clean the watch and cable terminals, and check that the contacts on the clamp are moving freely, they can stick in and not make contact.
Make sure all the terminals on the plug are popping out properly. Min refused to start after being left for a couple of months. Eventually. after being plugged into the charger and one of the buttons being held down it miraculously started and has been fine for three months.
And if the eraser doesn't work, use a few specs of stainless steel kitchen utensils cleaner on a half cotton bud in the electric drill... has solved many watches' issues with downloading.

Well bloody hell!! Tried the eraser and away she went. Started charging straight away. Thanks all ![]()
That's a relief, much easier than changing the battery!!
while we celebrate ka43 success, can i also ask if anyone has ever replaced the gps aerial? My watch works fine, but does not find any satellites...

Way to go Larko. Now all you need is wind!

I haven't done it, but shouldn't be more difficult than replacing the battery. again a fine soldering iron, good vision and a steady hand would help. There's just one coax lead, with shield and centre conductor to re-solder.
But that may not be the problem, I suspect it's more likely the chip.

Yeah, we were young when she was young!

Yeah , but she still looks good , we don't ![]()
On the subject of the breaking bands . Mine broke antenna side whilst rigging . Nothing apparently unusual about that. The thing was , a few days ago the other side broke off , also not unusual. What is strange it was sitting on a shelf untouched and the band self detached about a foot from the watch . It popped off like under pressure . What's going on .? Not only do the bands break but they explode
!!! ?
