Hi all,

I have been playing around with the GW-60.

What is the best software to analyse the SBP files on a Mac?

Do you transport the file onto the computer after each session and delete the logs on the watch?

I have been using the watch since December, and only just transported the SBP file onto the computer, there only seems to be 1 file even though there would be 15+ sessions.

I think what I will be doing from now on is resetting the watch and transferring the data after each sessions.

Thanks in advance

Mathias

Yep, there's is always only one file. The new stuff goes in the top the old stuff drops out the bottom. If you don't download and delete each session, you have to split the files. If you wait too long, you've lost the earliest stuff.

GPSResults has a MAC version, and GPSARPro is written in Java, so works on any platform with recent java installed.

Thanks for the reply, I tried gps action replay, but when I opened the file I couldn't see anything...

Did you use the "Open with auto split" option? If you didn't and your sessions were spread out, things may be too small to see.
Try clicking on "speed" then "speed results" that should show if anything is there.

If you have a very large file with multiple sessions, GPS Action Replay may need several minutes to load the file. That may look like there's nothing in it if you're not patient.

Good point Peter, that could well be it.

Just invested in a GW60 after my Gt31 screen died. I've been using GPSARpro for a few years.

Say I go on a windsurfing holiday and have a number of sessions to load to GPS team challenge when I return would it be safe to assume I can;
1. Load the file to GPSarPro using "Open SBP with auto split"
2. Save each file as a GPX
3. Load them separately to KA72
4. Upload them to GPSTC

I'm just unsure wether or not I can successfully split the files in GPSarPro then save them as separate files before loading them to KA72.

The first question I have is are you taking a computer with you to download the files each day?

If you are, you dont want to save them as .gpx files. I just tried this to check, and the file I converted from .sbp to .gpx in GPSAR-Pro was 6 times larger in .gpx (12mb) then in .sbp (1.9mb). No only that, but the .gpx file format does not save all the data, most importantly the 'SDOP' error data which is important for use in filtering out errors.

Just download the .sbp file each day and save that.

If you don't have a computer available to download your files each day, your only option is to leave them in the GW-60 and hope that it can hold all your sessions without overwriting the oldest sessions. The GW-60 most likely has enough memory to do this as I think it can hold around 30 hrs of data (someone will correct me if I am wrong - although you may have to set it to 1hz to get this much storage) which should cover approximately ten 2 to 3 hr sessions. (The battery will not last this long - you will need to recharge it between sessions).

When you get back home or access a computer, just open the file in GPSAR-Pro using 'auto split' when you open it. you can then use the speed results and click on each days result individually to save and manually post your results directly to GPS-TC.

Unfortunately, GPSAR-Pro can't seperatly save the files in the original .sbp file format which saves all the data. The Windows version of GPS-Results can do this but the Mac version of GPS-Results can't either as far as I can work out.

So your other option is to open the multi day file on the Windows version of GPS-Results and then select and save each file seperatly as a 'Navi sbp file'. Then you can upload each to KA72 in the usual way.

If you don't have Windows GPS-Results, I am happy to do the file splitting for you. Just send it to me by email and I will send the seperate .sbp files back to you. Contact me by PM if required.

PS. Can someone tell us if KA72 now has the ability to auto split tracks uploaded into the seperate days?

KA brings up each file seperatly for each day to post to GPSTC.

I have seen a couple of cases where the files were so big that ka72 choked on them, but splitting in GPSAction Replay worked (with a bit of patience). The files had something like 15 sessions.

As sailquik pointed out, saving to .gpx files for upload to ka72 is not a good idea - loosing the SDoP data means you're more likely to get artificially high speeds. Instead of exporting and uploading separate files, you can always enter the sessions manually at GPSTC, using the numbers from the "speed results" window in GPSAR. Just make sure to not confuse alpha 500 and 500 m .
