OK as far as I can tell, we're back in business:

gpsteamchallenge.com.au

I could say something unsavoury about my host but will save it for the game

Let me know if you notice anything weird happening with the site.

Do you ever sleep Nebs?
Unfortunately all I see on the GTC site is
This server is no longer being used
Please wait for the DNS record to propagate.

Hi Evets,

I think that this is due to windows caching the DNS record for the GTC site.

To (hopefully) fix the problem:

XP:
* Go to Start, Run and enter "cmd"
* Type "ipconfig /flushdns" into the command prompt.
* Press Enter. You will be informed that your DNS cache has been cleared.

Vista:
* Go here: www.petri.com/vista_command_prompt and follow the steps marked "Creating an Administrator Session Shortcut"
* Type "ipconfig /flushdns" into the command prompt.
* Press Enter. You will be informed that your DNS cache has been cleared.

An easier way might be to reboot your machine.

Hey Firiebob,

What page are you getting? Does it say something about waiting for the DNS to propagate?

If so then click here:

Nebs, page comes up with this. Even after I complete the flush. Sort it out tomorrow. We can wait.

OK for anyone who can't see the site, please someone do the following:

Go to Start->Run

Type CMD.

This will give you a command prompt window.

Type "tracert www.zensoft.com.au" and hit return.

Then copy the text that you get back.

nebs, if you follow your link to gpsteamchallenge.com.au then you get the DNS propogation error, and the page is continually trying to refresh (or something similar)

If you go to www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au then everything is fine.

Thanks Grumps. I can assure you that both www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au and gpsteamchallenge.com.au work fine on my machine...

But I've changed the redirection on the "Wait for DNS to propagate" page so hopefully this fixes the problem (until everyone's browser stops caching the bad address).

Thanks to all for helping to try to figure out what's going on.

DNS stuff is without a doubt the most fickle, kludgey and frustrating part of the internet. Doubly so when a web host changes stuff without telling me *sigh*.

OK there are still some other avenues to try. If you're computer-savvy you might try setting your DNS server (in your networking control panel) to 61.88.88.88. This is Optus's DNS server, and it looks like it's serving up the correct address.

Another option might be to go to www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au, and force a refresh of your browser (shift F5 or control-F5).

We'll get there! I've still got some more options up my sleeve, should have it sorted for everyone soon.

Hi Nebs, all good now mate

For your intereast, the original link still wasn't working today
So I did the CMD thing but couldn't work out how to copy
So I then tried the link as suggested by grumplestiltskin, which didn't work last night, but is a now a goer every time

Thanks for help,
Bob.

Nebs
Thanks for all of the work you have put in to get the GTC site working again for everybody.

To all out there using the GTC site,
please never loose sight of the fact that Nebs administers, updates, trouble shoots and enhances this site which he created on an entirely voluntary basis and that over two hundred of us from coast to coast get a lot of enjoyment due to his efforts.
