What a year Tassie had, huge congrats to you guys. They won 10 of the 11 counting months, a great achievement. Also to have done it in conditions which can be very challenging (cold) makes it even more sensational. Well done to Tassie.
Great team effort too! Well done!
Thanks also to Hardie and Nebbs for another great year of competition.
Happy New Year to all you speedys!![]()
Well done Tassie on winning the GPSTC - a great team achievement.
Thanks Nebbs & Hardie for all the hard work behind the scenes!
Good luck in 2012!
Well done Tassies, great effort in all that cold and snow and with the La Nina conditions for this year you,ll be hard to beat.....but we,ll try very hard to get our "trophy back" ![]()
Well done Tassies!![]()
We (Portland Pirates) were hoping to take 3rd place but just to much to do for the month (December) to get the points. Basically we cocked up through the year and paid the price.![]()
Anyway still manged 4th not bad for a Div 2 team who were gonna be moaning about our position.![]()
So all i can say is great team effort and well done, you done really well and the tables tell the tale.
Looking forward to 2012 and happy new year to all....... ![]()
Thanks guys, we've been lucky to be able to get at least one or two good sessions in each month and the team has worked well together to ensure no good days were missed. Really looking forward to another year AND MORE WIND!! ![]()
Well done Tassie!
You might have also put paid to the myth that WA is the best place to windsurf in Oz. It looks to me like Tassie has far more consistent conditions ( but at least it's warm here).
Well done Taswegians! Great effort to get out there, doing the Henty missions, and going the distance. A win well deserved.
On the GTC theme, back out in the wild west,
Once upon a time... we could use small boards in Perth
My speed board is now 82cm wide. Its been a challenging year in WA for going fast. The few days where the wind got over 25kts came with no flat water, and we are heading into the second low wind summer in a row. The water temperatures are warmer than usual again, so the seabreezes arent really happening. And we aren't getting the strong easterlies we had last summer. Pretty septic really. The past 2 years in Perth had the hottest average temps on record, so something has been up with the weather.
Pt Walter and Melville (WA's fastest water) refused to fire, so we got a bit more adventurous. The Beaver delivered the glory speeds for the year in WA, and even Woodman's Pt was good for 40 a couple of times. The manbra boys got adventurous and did the mission to Shark Bay to capture a load of wind and got some great speeds. I suspect there will be more missions up there.
Fingers crossed for a normal 2012 so we dont have to drive too far!
Congratulations to the whole Tassie team. You certainly deserved the trophy this year due to a great team effort and some great individual performances.
I am getting a bit envious of the options you guys have now too, with the development of a few really good spots. I nearly made the trip over a couple of times last year for a dash at the Henty. I am still keen to try that spot on a good day so I might see you this year.![]()
Big big Grats for your team sailing. Great camaraderie that makes for even more fun sailing.
Hope 2012 goes well to and that all Aussie teams can try and push those Netherlands crews:-)
