Navi died today. When the power button is pressed the backlight flashes along with the red LED once and then nothing. Bought just under a year ago. Is the warranty 12 months? Do I take it back to the shop or does it go direct to Locosys. Any help appreciated.

I am sure I read a similar thread a few months back.... not sure how to find it but it sounds very familiar

I suggest go to your shop first.

Mark, I saw your crash. You also broke a rod batten. How did you describe it? ..."my worse crash ever" ?.. While it is unfortunate that the Navi broke I don't think it would classify as a warranty case.

Surf Sail have some info regarding warranties for GT-11/31 here

http://www.surfsailaustralia.com.au/showProduct/GPS+and+Windmeter/GPS+and+Windmeter/bgt31

I guess the key phrase is "..However, the warranty does not apply to any product where damage has been caused by accident....."

Don't forget WindsurfingWA has GT-11 units to loan while you think about what you want to do.

Why not?
Everyone expects that booms are covered by warranty after a crash

No external / visible damage to unit. Happy to pay for a repair (if possible) if it turns out to be not warranty. If I brought a boom back you would tell me it was not a warranty break and I would wear it. Just looking at my options.

Locosys responded promptly and this is an extract from their policy.

Out-of-Warranty Service
Out-of-warranty products, or damage not covered under the warranty will be charged to the
customer. If the product fails forgoing conditions, we can usually repair it for very reasonable
price. We’ll provide a quote including shipping charge for repair. Repairs will be performed
upon receipt of payment. Customers will prepay for shipping both ways, plus parts and labor.
