Since The Navi's have gone to the SBN file format I find that I can no longer download the file direct from the GPS internal memory using the NAVILINK software.
I don't know hwether anyone else is having this problem or if it is just me having recently gone to the dark side
and got a Navi.
I do have a couple of theories how this may have occured, but would like someone in the know to confirm / deny if there is an issue / solution or if it's just me being a Goomba.
My theory goes
Hi Elmo, I don't know what Mineral PM'd to you, but you're on the money.
I read here or at GPS-SS that the Navilink doesn't see the SBN files.
And, Under "data logger" use the "Save to card" Function, should work.
I just tried it, and it saves to the card as a SBP file, anyway RealSpeed opens it no worries.
It only saves the last session, mine was the drive home, didn't realize it was on. Looked at the speed and thought what the
so I draged into Google and na it wasn't on water ![]()
Cheers,
Bob.
Elmo, thought I had explained this when I helped you set up Binny's unit, but that was a bit hurried and over the phone.
If you want to use navilink, you need to turn on the "track" section, trouble is this saves all sorts of stuff, including google earth files. If you do that (and data logger is off, don't ask me what happens if data logger is also on) you only get 2 1/2 hrs of data. To get the 10 or so hrs on internal memory, you need to turn "track" off, so there are no files that navilink recognises. the internal memory data is accessed by going to data logger and hitting "save to card"
firebob, if you are only getting the last session there is something wrong, unless it's about 10hrs worth.
Yep mineral see you Sunday.
Sounds like you still have "track" turned on, be interesting to see how big your data logger memory is in this configuration.
Hi decrepit,
It's a 668kb file size, so guessing it's not 10hrs worth.
I wont panic yet, I might have cleared it after last sail, can't remember, getting old ![]()
I haven't sailed since the 1st, and yesterday drove home in the rain from the beach, disappointed again
can't remember if I turned it off or not.
My full memory of ~ 10hrs is 878kb, it's a very compressed file, so yours is probably about 7hrs.
Could be several reasons for the difference, datalogger may not be full, or you also have "track" turned on, does navilink work in your current configuration?
G'day Mike,
I just had a look at the track set up and it wasn't switched on, so now I have switched it to 1 sec, I have also switched off the logging of WPT name and symbols.
I do not think this is the issue though.
My logic is based on the data logger has a manual feature to save tracks to card, which makes me think it has got something to do with the file type.
When I get back to Perth I have a bit more of a buggerize around and see if I can find a way of extracting the data from the infernal memory.
I definately want to get to the bottom of this so as I can make sure the unit is recording in both memories.
G'Day Elmo, how's the great N.W.???? Hot enough for you?
The GUI based version of Navilink doesn't work with the 7hr data-logger, it only works with the original 2hr data-logger.
If you really want to use Navilink, you need to use the command-line version (navilink_cmd.exe) and it needs to be the latest version, so that it matches the latest data-logger changes.
Ha decrepit, it's all a-ok mate, operator error ![]()
Because I had used the Navi on a trip to the outer reef, all the sailing tracks were too small to see, all I could see were the track to the reef and two straight lines to my house which don't line up with any roads or make sense ?
I put the tracks into Google, zoomed in for a closer look and there they were ![]()
Bloody clown ![]()
I have just bought one of these Navi GPS's to replace my Garmin 101.
reading this and the related other threads i feel i have bitten off more than i can chew/understand.
all this tech talk does not make any sense at all.![]()

Decrep to be honest i have not really played with it yet. I got a aquapac for it today through windforce(thanks elmo for the tip).
if it gets to me in time via snail mail in time i hope to give it a go on Sunday. Either way i wil bring it.
Cheers Bender
