Anyone had issues with firmware upgrade for GT-31 on Windows 7?
I am following http://www.mtbest.net/setting-up-navi-GT31.htm
I have the updater v0.61, trying to uppdate to GT31_FW_V1.2B1405x.S
I can get a COM connection using NaviLink. The driver is Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port.
Alas it fails to update everytime
Any clues?

download firmware GT31_FW_V1.2B1405x.zip and extract zip archive to my document
you need have here file called: GT31_FW_V1.2B1405x.S
RUN GT31 updater and on GT31 go to: SETTINGS>VERSION>UPDATE>YES
In GT31 updater browse for file GT31_FW_V1.2B1405x.S in you "my doc" folder
Hit UPDATE and wait for minutes. When done, GT31 turning off and when you turn in on again, in SETTINGS>VERSION ypu must see V1.2B1405
then is OK
If you can't find good COM port, test with NAVI LINK II
Run navilink (put GT in navilink mode) and when you connect to device remember the current COM port (not same avery time)

Just purchased a 31 yesterday . I also was updating the firmware and ran into the same problem . It worked out for me by reattempting upload and using com 3 . that was after trying com 1 and com 2 . I found that when I had selected com 1 and com 2 it would upload in a sense that it would indicate an upload then window would say upload fail . These failed attempts were pretty quick about 13 secs but when I selected com 3 it took maybe double that time and worked .
cant see why it wont work now .

Just had the same failure problem on Vista doing one of our teams units.
Eventually after removing all the driver, navilinkII and GT31updater. Reinstalling and restarting, firmware updated first time.[}:)]
Might be worth a try?
Had same FW update trouble on my vista os. Forums suggested to do this procedure on an XP os. Got it first try.
Can't help with win7 issue...but are you aware there is a later firmware update...

I think this new firmware may have helped with Freezing up issues.
When I read the Mt Best site about the latest firmware I get a bit confused as to
which version is the latest.
Is it 2B1405x or 3B1123T
To my old mind there is a bit of ambiguity.
GT31 Firmware upgrade for GT-31 on Windows 7.
1st & 2nd GPS the upgrade worked fine with no problems.
3rd GPS upgrade failed....GT31 upgrade software would work to about 90% then upgrade error, repeated many times with the same result.
Removed the Navi software & reinstalled, same problem... about 90% then upgrade error.
Tried a 4th GPS, upgrade error was the same.
Then tried another USB port & all the GPS's would upgrade.
Weird, but no time to find what caused the error.
