Hi All,

just getting into gps sailing, had my 2nd run this arvo.

i am wondering how to clear the data from my first run from the GT-11. if i try to format card it says "fail" then-[32768.02h] then [S513540096]. i have also gone into data logger and selected "clear". but when I download "speed genie" using Navilink 2, most of the speed history is from my first session (not today's). the track data is ok (ie RealSpeed displays only todays results) - it is oly speed genie i am not sure about.

anyone able to help
a. how to format card (Sandisk SD 512mb)
b. how to clear datd from speed genie so it only shown current info?

thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I just tried to format an old card and had the same problem as you. This was a fujifilm 128 MB SD card. My regular TwinMOS Ultra-X 1GB has no problems, and my SanDisk 16MB had no problems when the NAVI went to format it.

To format card:
With the unit off, take the card out and make sure the little sliding switch isn't in the "Lock" position on the card.
Put the card back in, and turn the unit on.
Move toggle to the right until "Memory Card" is highlighted, press toggle.
Move toggle down until "Log Switch" is selected, click toggle and select Off.
Move toggle down until "Format Card" is selected, it should say "Fat16", select "Yes" and the card should then be formatted.

To clear data:
Go to Trip Meter, right toggle to "trip max speed", click toggle and select "Zero".
Exit, then right toggle to "Speed". Select "Max Speed", and double click. I usually also go down to select "clear" as well.
Now select "10 s max avg" and double click to reset this.
Right toggle till the display shows your max speed again and you're good to go onto the water!

When sailing:
If you have a good run, click once, go down to "Save", then double click.
Now double click again to reset your displayed max speed.
I usually do this on the return upwind leg, with the NAVI on the left shoulder it's easy to take your right hand off the boom, check your speeds, and do the clicking. One fast gybe at the top of the course later, and I'm zooming back down the run with no stopping

This process allows you to get a reading from each run, and at the end of the day you can see the best max speeds you have achieved by selecting "Restore". I don't use the genie because it's too hard to see what your max speed is when you're bouncing around in the chop.

You probably have a compatibility problem with your SD card. You will probably need to try a different card. Either that or you have water in your SD card slot. A standard test for seeing if you have a compatible SD card is to try and format it 6 or 7 times in a row and ensure that it doesn't fail.

I haven't played around with Speed Genie much, but my impression was that it records the last several sessions, and that is what it is designed to do. If you are after data from just your latest session, you should dump the data and look at it in Realspeed, or if you remember, you can reset all the odo settings before the session, and then view the results in the GPS.

Of course, big disclaimer, I don't really use Speed Genie so the above could be total BS.

In "speed" select "max speed" press toggle, then toggle up, you should then have "clear" highlighted, press toggle again.
Then select "max average" and go thru the same procedure.

Now when you select "max speed" or "max average" press toggle, scroll down to "restore" it should be empty.
