I used my new Navi today as well as my garmin, when downloading the info off the card my session today was broken up into 4 different files the unit was left on the whole time. Why did this occur? and can you combine the 4 files?
Any help would be great thanks.
Choco, me as well as you![]()
I don't feel so bad now.
Go back in to your set up and set the card as "card size" not what you set it at. I set mine at 1260b I think, but its :"card size " that is the setting. ![]()

Thanks mate,i will do it right now
froze today air temp at 11am when i went sailing was only 9 degrees.Got wiped out by a 30+ knot squall(the 6.2 was abit too big) and had to swim for my gear in the water for about 5 mins but that killed my day.
Cheers
you can combine the data.
this worked for me
open the file in notepad then copy and past the info from the other files into the one file. then resave.
just make sure your data is in the correct order.
Agree with mineral & Troppo.
"memory card" > "file size" should be set to "card size". That should produce only one file per on/off cycle.
and multi files can be combined by copy/paste with notepad.

Changed the card setup to record binary data, works OK, but how do you combine files?????
Notepad works fine for text files, but doesn't seem to work with binary files.
I tried it but realspeed didn't want to know about the combined file.
Mike, are you using the latest Beta 1.911? If you are can you send me your multiple files and I'll figure out what is going wrong. If not, can you download it and try it out?
Thanks! Mal
More great news on the Locosys GT11...
The new Data Logger with full precision data has been released in the latest beta firmware V161(B0717a). Now you dont even need an SD card to get over 7.5 hours of recording that includes all the data we require and at full precision for the best possible accuracy. I have updated RealSpeed (1.911) to read this latest binary format.
And I have just heard from Tom Chalko that the new "n" second readout on the unit will be available soon. Here is what he said...
"The "Max Average" speed feature will be available in GT11 in a few days.
Details:
1. N-second average speed computed in the real time with MAX value of
the average speed displayed (since the last save)
2. N in the range 1-60 seconds
3. Trapezoidal rule of speed integration for maximum achievable
accuracy of the average speed (the same accuracy as software)
4. Capacity to save/recall average speeds for at least 10 runs in
GT11 cyclic buffer
5. No invalid points used to compute the average speed
This feature should enable sailors to estimate their 10s or ~500m
average speed on the water, without extra computers.
The "recall" feature will enable people to take photos with their
records on their GT11 displays at the end of the day."
What this means is that you can set your GT11 to show a 10 second average for example, or perhaps a 23 second average to represent an approximate speed over 500m. After your run, just take a look at the result on the screen and save it off. If you have two GT11s you could see both results.
thats getting clever.
I still run me old faithfull geko and one of the features I like is the easy reset of the max speed so I can see what I've done each run. Is this similar to what you have now got?

Elmo, Very similar concept but can now choose to see a max speed and an average speed over your choice of time.
Mike, I had a change of method a few weeks ago when I hit the wall trying to show a combined result by simply selecting the TrackFiles item in the tree view. It turned out to be problematic so I went for a different approach. First open the files you wish to combine using file open or file import to get several files listed under the TrackFiles item. Then right click the trackfiles item and choose "Create Combined File". This merges all the trackfiles into one new trackfile. You can then save the combined file.
Note that when you combine trackfiles that are recorded at the same time, you are likely to get a lot of rubbish data from the trackpoint calculations because the trackpoints now zig-zag between the two or more previous tracks. I will come up with a way to make this data meaningful. In the meantime, just use the doppler calculations which benefit from the multi- trackfiles.
Another note. The combine is feature is perfect for joining multiple files together that were created using the GT11 with the wrong settings.

Took my GT11 out for a sail yesterday and got interesting data.
I turned it on 15min before hitting the water and sailed for an hour and a half. When I got out it was on showing max speed, and toggling through menu showed hour and three quarters, but distance seemed low. When I loaded my data into RealSpeed or GPSR, they show I stopped sailing way off shore.
So even though the GT11 was on all the time, stayed on the same menu screen, had the right elapse time and only made one data file (set to card size), it stopped recording data half way through ?
Maybe it lost sat signal, but clear blue skies and on forearm as every other time ?
Firebob, Can you download the flash memory to SD card and send me both files so I can take a look at it for you? I would like to see wahtis going on. Also, let me know what your settings were (On, On fix, binary , min speed etc).
Thanks, Mal
Thanks Mal, I've got the data on SD, I'll work out how to get the flash memory onto it as well. Then I'll send them to you. All my settings are as per Roos guide.
