Just wondered if the GPSTC committee could clear up a rules question. Do trackpoint posts count towards the month's total when they are the top speeds for the team? From my understanding they don't but they seem to be included and affect the overall results.
The site does not auto check. The requirement is that scoring and high ranking sessions must come from an approved device. The responsibility falls to the team and its captain to make sure that the data complies with the rules. If in doubt contact the GPSTC for clarification or checking.

The current policy of GPS-TC is that GT-31 should be used for posting Doppler based data (D) by individuals and team members vying for the top positions.
The GW-52 is also approved for use in the same way using 5hz logging*.
GPS-TC also allows the legacy pre GT-31 GPS (mainly Garmin) that only produced speed results from positional data (T), but only for those sailors not in the category mentioned above.
So technically a low ranking Trackpoint session from a Foretrex 101 could count for one of the teams not in the upper part of the ranking.
The allowance was made so that those who still had older functioning devices were not forced to update them. By now there shouldn't be many of these still in use.
Recent issues have arisen with new devices which have not been approved. These are not permitted under the exception.
Any scores in question should first be politely addressed to the team through the post page and then the info@ email for the challenge or the contact page on the site.
Please remember that this is a community group kept running by volunteers both behind the scenes and in teams. So be nice to each other.
