If you are a sponsor that wants to be associated with Windsurfing, with GPS Speedsailing, then why not get on board! We have 14 teams registered from across Australia, and 6 or more teams currently considering entry!
This is my first organizing of an event, so I'm very new to this and learning as I go.
I am personally providing a Trophy for the Team that wins the overall challenge, ie, the team that has the lowest points score across the five event categories of
2 sec gps max speed
5 x 10 sec average speed
1 hour speed
Nautical Mile
Alpha Racing
for the 8 month contest.
So there is an oppurtunity to provide a trophy in each category, which does not have to be a huge financial committment, and you can have your sponsors name associated with that.
There is also an oppurtunity for a sponsor to provide a small monthly prize for the best peforming team (overall across all categories) for each month, so you can have the XXXX team of the month award.
In order to unburden sponsors from any work, we will do everything, as we have Nebbian and his company offering to provide a database for the prize. And I and friends are willing to do administrative work to run the comp. Unless of course one of the windsurfing associations wants to take it off my hands like "WWA", coz I run a business full-time. However, if a sponsor gets on board, and they want me to run it, the I will committ. My only concern is insurance, so am currently working out how to avoid incurring a massive personal expense. I will committ to ensuring any Sponsor gets their money's worth, so if a windsurfing organisation takes it on, I will take on the Marketing responsibilities.
Does anyone out there know how we get around the insurance and indemnity issues???
There is a naming rights oppurtunity here as well:
I geuss for a Naming rights maybe a sail or a board (Though I know boards are more expensive) so you as a company need to decide what it is worth for you to have your name assocaited with this challenge.
Would it be profitable for you to have your name assocaited with this event for 8 months?

The challenge runs for 8 months from beginning of May to end of December. Then if successful we can do something for the whole of 2008, and who knows...........
