Hi all,
I've only just started (1st season), but after last monday at Safety Bay i'm amped i finally took the sport up. After a couple of runs down the sand bank (not that fast
) i am eager to upgrade to my next board - 115L ??.
What i want to know though is, what would be some good GPS equipment to start out with. ![]()
This question is asked a fair bit.
Get a Navi GT-31 if you want one with the best knowledge base here.
The issue with Navis are they are not very waterproof and do have a lifespan in a salty wet environment. I have a GT-11 bought in 2008. Its still going but the card writing function failed over a year ago. This happens quite a bit with the Navis. However they are still usable without the card reader by using the onboard data log feature.
Despite their issues the Navis are the best for measuring your windsurfing.
Get some form of waterproof pack for the GPS. Its probably not a bad idea to put the GPS in a zip lock bag inside the pouch too.
Good one cap, beat mineral to it.
I must be lucky with my GT11 bought 07, it's still going well, battery doesn't hold up for much over a day now though.
Keeping it away from saltwater is the trick, I prefer the "paqua midi" as a water proof pouch.
we must be paying more for members than the Manbras. ![]()
Gotta share the Cribb skills around eh Mineral?![]()
Stu, join WWA and you can borrow one (and waterproof pouch) for a while to see how you like it. Comes with helpful advice![]()
Thanks for the info everyone ![]()
Like i said, i've only just started, so after my first board upgrade i will be thinking hard about purchasing a GPS.
After that first time bearing away and sheeting in, i was hooked on it. Woot!
