I know there has been threads about this before. My GT31 froze on the first run yesterday, button lock is on and could not switch it off or do anything, it,s still on. I guess I just have to run the battery flat and assuming I have no data for yesterday. It must have done it the day before then unfroze late in the day, I had no data for most of Sunday either.

Frustrating. Had it for years, has never done it before as I have never used button lock until this weekend. It seems to be related.

In a nice dry environment undo the screws on the back, (I think there is one semi hidden in the card recess) take apart and unplug the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect and turn on.

Cool, thanks for that. Shall do.

Anybody had weird stuff happen with the button lock function or is it not related?? Just seems very coincidental.

Sometimes my gt31 won't turn off if the numbers on the display are moving. I have put it down for awhile so that it is not moving. Usually when I come back to it ,it turns off ok.

Martin, my GPS freezes every now and then. I just run the battery down. Think its just a coincidence with the lock screen.

Yep, all good now after the battery ran down. Recorded nothing for the entire day on Monday though, so from 2 solid days at Sandy Point I recorded about 1.5 hours of data
But getting the new 70 wide slalom board to 39.98 made me smile.

does anybody know why the screen locks. Ive just come back from my "probably best lap" on my bike only to find that in the last few kms it has frozen.
any way tomake sure it doesn't happen again.
this is the first time after 4 -5 years of use for me as well

theres 2 hidden, but yes it didwork.
from the data I got after restarting it seems that it stopped recording distance covered at 13km,(about25 minutes in , but continued to record elapsed time and didplay the changing speed.
is there another problem i should be aware of

Weird yachty, I assumed everything stopped happening when it froze.
Maybe it's only some routines that went off the rails while others still worked?
With out an idea of what the computer is actually doing it's impossible to say.

But I don't think you need be concerned, if you've only had one failure in several years, you're not likely to have another for a while.
That's why some of us wear 2 gps's when going for something important, there's always the possibility of a breakdown.

We are going to need to come up with an alternitave rather sharpish. The GT31's are getting like hens teeth, rare as. Only one shop has them here in WA at moment. Some on internet, but these will dry up quickly.
New players will quickly drop the ball if they cant get into this GPSTC with ready available options.

Mine used to freeze every 4th or 5th sail, until I updated the firmware to the latest version. It hasn't frozen since in 15-20 outings.

updated to latest firmware ..
always use the "toggle button to lock" ..
never had a freeze ! ..

always let is sit for a minute, when i turn it on, to get a solid fix.
then lock and sail !!
