Ive just got a 6.2m cammed Sailworks Syncro c 2001. I'm used to non cammed sails / wavesails etc & Im frustrated at the lack of feel in this sail.
I can tell when i have my non cammed sails at the right angle to the wind but this gives no feed back. How do you know when you have the sail pulled on just right?
Im still getting my harness line length etc setup.Im intermediate ( used to be " advanced' back in the 90's but things have changed - I was out of the loop for years & now Im older & less fit.)
My rig is old & the boom so short I cant outhaul the sail much + the mast etc arent ideal.I use a 45cm extension which causes hassles rigging the bottom cam but I can eventually rig it so its not too bad.
Just had some advise on this subject and have found that the outhaul should be almost negative. When you have the downhaul sorted, which may not be to the manufacturers specs, the sail should be touching the boom. Then just a puffteenth of outhaul should see a decent foil shape.
Try it and I'd be interested if you don't see a vast improvement in handling.
I trimmed my koncept recently to manufacturers specs and found the sail way too flat, with no shape and difficult to handle, after some small adjustments the sail filled out and was definitely the goods.
Are you both using the manufacturers recommended mast and settings. Maybe using a different mast you cannot use the default settings defined by the manufacturer?
