Hey Guyz & Galz,
I have 2 spare GT31's, one works, charges, shows readings of speeds but won't record to card, or save to card. The other GT31 seems dead, won't charge?
Are there any repairers of such things?
You could ask your Captain, if you're not in a hurry. Or you could put your name down for a mini motion, 10X better than a GT31

It's so far back in my memory that I am not entirly sure, but I think one can download the internal memory via the usb port. I cant remeber exactly how.
Possibly with RealSpeed? If that is correct, you can still use that one. ![]()
Yes, that jogs my memory as well I think it was with "navilink" but that maybe hard to come by now. I should have a copy somewhere, but where?

Navilink is still available to download via Locosys.
I just did so, still won't connect. (COM PORT error)
If anybody works it out can they give us the word.
I have a young fast guys (record) file, won't load onto card but the file is there in data logger.
Finally found it it's in the "end of line" section
www.locosystech.com/en/product/Genie-GT-31-BGT-31/gps-handheld-data-logger-gt-31.html
I've installed it but I don't have a GT31 here to rest it with, Hardie where are you?
The GT31 wont recognize sd cards bigger than 2g. This might be the issue.
No, it does see the card (I have several).
In 'Data Logger' ....'save to card' there is no data (he wiped it playing with buttons)
However in 'Data Logger'....... 'Clear' there is a data file from the date concerned, marked 210207/223224.
Seems to me that the data is still there and I seem to remember having done this recovery in the past using 'Navilink'.

Ahh, that jogs my memory as well. It might be the issue of finding the right COM port number. I think I had a trick for that using some other program but I will need to open some jammed files in my memory....... It could take a while! ![]()

That's cool, I'm a patient fella

Did you install the driver? I just found the CD that came with it, but only has XP and Vista drivers, of course I'm emulating W7. I've just got Joe's two but neither are turning on or charging up. Guess they need new batteries.
And found the manual'

Device manager should show a new comport show up, or arduino will show what com ports are available.

Thanks for that Decrep. I reloaded usb driver and navi utility.
It sees the com ports and I can locate the correct port.
Still get the msg 'not in navilink mode or incorrect port'
Tried all ports but same msg.
I guess the next would be to reload the firmware on the GPS unit but I reckon that will wipe the data files?
the toggle switch on my GT 31 has stopped working. everything else is good. Can that be fixed?
I've just managed to get one of Joe's apart, (the micro philips heads are rusted and deep in the casing, I can't get a grip on them).
And replacing the joy stick, is probably beyond my skills. It's very fine soldering required, these old hands are getting a bit too shaky, but somebody more skilled at fine soldering could probably do it.
