First time I've seen this one, his other record is all over Youtube, but not seen this before, Check it:
Joseph, I think you may be unintentionally perpetuating an internet myth. I remember distinctly reading at the time there was no video. Finian was on the course himself having just arrived from the ISA comp in Port St Louis about an hour away. Chris and Dave White were in transit. Finians time was such a shock to the timekeeper and the WSSRC official in the caravan (20 seconds even) that they decided to check it again and didn't tell Finian who went back up the course to try again. The video is of a later slower run and when they decided to tell him he broke it on his first run.
From their own web site............
WSSRC official statement
15th April '05
The MOS staff would like to inform the public that the new world record run was, to our knowledge, not caught on video. The run that is being shown publicly is the run after, which is a 45-knot one, but it is exactly the same equipment used. This is what was available for the media.
We felt that since the original video of the last record was aired on this site we wanted to be clear to the public about the new record.
Below is the ratification of the new fast speed. Karin's should be following shortly.
Best wishes,
