Is there an easy way to save your GPS data without a P.C. ?
Something like a card reader.
I know there are quite a few peoples out there who have GPS's but aren't Net junkies, like some of us ![]()
This way they could just copy their data at the end of the day and get someone else to do the reading uploading stuff.
If you get a NAVI then they save their data to a card. You could then give your card to your team captain and they could then upload the data to the GPS Team Challenge if you like.
Then if they remember to give the card back next time you sail the process would work fine, no computer needed ![]()
two SD cards could be the answer there, give the current one to the captain, or some other member who can upload, then put the second one in.
Swap them around at the next meet.
SD cards aren't that exxy.
What about copying from multiple Navi's to one SD card ?
If so, is it possible to upload other peoples data onto the Challenge site ?
You can then have a "Card Carrying Captain" ![]()
Gee, I think I just answered my own question, I must be a guinness ![]()
It's possible -- you could put someone else's card into your NAVI and then save the Datalogger info to the card.
But then it's a hassle trying to figure out when your session started. It would be easier to have one card per person.
Nebs is quite correct, but it is even better: All the .sbp files (data logger files) have the name of the GPS user in them (assuming you have given your GPS a name) so they are easy to identify.
So your captain/tech person can put a card in all the other GPS's at the end of the day, save the logger data to that one card and sort them all out once home.
Of course, for this to work well one must clear the data logger on every GPS before each session or or can be a bit confusing. Probably just as simple to collect each members card at the end of the session....
